Power window kit?

I have seen threads about other kits, I will be very specific; Has anyone done power window conversion using this power window kit in a 64-66? ANy reason not to use it (E.G. like need drill to death or results in wobbly glass)?

Anyone used any of these retro handle switches?

Re: Power window kit?

I have used switches like those in previous builds. I liked them and will use them again on this build. The power windows no. I will use these - http://www.nu-relics.com/chevrolet-truck-s/253.htm

Re: Power window kit?

I used one similar, only real issue I had was the windows were very slow to go up and sometimes would hang and I would have to manually pull them up. I also didn't like drilling a bunch of holes in my doors, had to remove the windows stops too. I'll suffer and just roll them manually. Good luck!

This is the one I used, was a long time ago but wasn't a fan. Had to get longer glass cut also. If I would have had the $ I would have went with the Nu-Relics offering.

I like this item too, but the cost is obscene. especially when you add in CNC/milled aluminum plate for original door handles.

I feel a DIY project coming on...

Yep I used to go inexpensive previously also, I paid twice for what I should have purchased once.

The cost is no joke but then again neither is the quality of the parts and ease of installation. These things are built better than the original assemblies and work as good if not better then a newer OEM unit.

FWIW, mine have been in for near 5-6 months now and not once have I regretted saving a little longer to get them.

Probably going to send the regulators for the Wife's Bug to them.... A '60 Bug with power glass

Re: Power window kit?

I used that kind of switch with a Nu-Relics power window motor/regulator set.

Not the kit but the switches look identical to the ones that I got from NR. They work great. I was worried that people would hop in the truck, try to roll the window down and break the switch. It happens every time that I have a passenger. No issues yet. Only downside with those switches is that there is no control over the passenger side window from the driver's side without some creative wiring which is documented pretty well.

Re: Power window kit?

I wired the remote master switch that Nu-Relics offers with the handle switch, so I can roll down the passenger window from the driver seat. I mounted it just to the side of the steering column.
