67 door screws - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have just purchased a 1967 Chevy C10 and need to remove the steel door panels. Some of the screws are stuck and some of them just spin as if the nut on the door shell is no longer attached. Any suggestions on removal and repair/replacement.

Unfortunately you have to drill the ones that spin. The nuts on the inside of the door are lightly welded in place. Spray them and work them back and forth slow. Find these cage nuts local or order online and use antiseize on the new ones.

X2 on what 68panelman said. I just had to do EXACTLY that to some of my own 67 GMC door screws. I used PB blaster on it, then I used a small vise grip to clamp the largest screw piece on the inside of the door, turned it counter clockwise, and removed it that way. There was not enough of the drilled screw on the outside to get any good grip.

X2. I got all my stainless screws I used on the interior at my local ACE Hdwe. They are likely sick of me digging around in the bolt section....
