Interesting read. I went thru this last year installing my 2004r in my stock 70 C20. I have a 350 with the stock quadrajet. After reading many articles about how to set up the TV cable, I took a stab at it. I did get a pressure gauge and used Bowtie overdrives recommendations. Worked just fine for me. I think the biggest thing is to make sure the connection is the correct distance from the pivot on the carb linkage. I also used the factory TV cable that was adjustable for the year the trans was built. Been a year now and a few thousand miles with no issues.

I wonder if the Lokar bracket for that carb is indeed correct then, as far as distance.
