For those that know and those that don't know. I do my very best to stay in shape. For life reason and because of my job. Well me being me Hehehehe sometimes just want hesitant to go there. March 25 I was at the gym and my partners and I was on the beach press hard and heavy. Looooonprobably won't get back in a patrol car tiltory we put 405 on the bar. I did the 1st one by myself no problem no straining. 2nd time ummmm spotter dont go no where...lol. 3rd straining 4th barely got it. Boom im so light headed and bout passed out. They give me a bottle of water and some OJ(not SIMPSON). So it takes me about 30 min just to get myself together to drive home.

The next day im at work. I didn't write ANY TICKETS. Not me at all but good for those out there getting it done. Left work went to eye doc and boom detached retina. I actually started going blind in my right eye. Yes girls and boys lady's and gents. So the next day I had surgery and probably won't get back into a patrol car til next month. Yes im bout to freaking Die. Listen to my radio and watching cops or YouTube is keeping me sane. So family if your doing something and you are struggling/straining. I strongly suggest you back up and punt. A painful experience.

Ooooooh Chief that makes my eyeball twitch and my stomach queasy...... 405# holy smokes that's a lot of weight. Sorry this happened to you but very glad you got it fixed right away. Now get healed up quick so you can get back out there doing what you do best -- which by the way we appreciate very much!

about 7years ago when i was cleaning up after a big hurricane came thru and did my old oak tree in (right dead center ontop of my 71 c10) i strained my both retinas and was blind for three months

just take it slow and dont try to rush the rehab

Leon and Family Big Thanks to ALL of YOU....

I tell hospital and hasn't been easy. The guys came to the hospital and to my house. It was so many patrol cars you thought I was shot....lol. The brothers and sisters in Blue showed a brother some love. And tell you the truth it felt good. Cdowns I feel you on being blind is noooo fun. Its like you get your site back and life seems so much sweeter.

But you all are second to none no doubt.

Today I learned cops watch "Cops" on YouTube.

Sounds like you got the weight up ok, in hindsight is there anything you could have done form wise to have avoided this type of thing?

Unfortunate about the retinal issue, but congrats on the 405 club! i was headed there myself, hit 395 and my shoulders indicated that maybe it would be better if i calmed down a bit... haha

hope the recovery continues to go well!

Bwahahahaha...lol too funny. The doctor said I can lift. But leave the heavy stuff alone. He told me light weight till I recover. Im thankful for good family and friends.

My wife went thru this . She did really well but with the notice that since it happened , The other eye is a concern . Doc said the percentages of the other eye having trouble is way up there
