Why not as many GMC trucks as Chevy?

Hey all of you guys. I'm just posting this cause I've been all over the net looking for ideas on my 69 GMC Fleetside, but all I can find are chevy trucks from the years of 67 to 72. On an extreemly rare case I find a GMC. Are the GMC trucks that much more rare than the chevy? Also I notice that if something on my truck is different than a chevy of the same year, like the grill, they don't have any hop ups for it like a billet grill. Does anyone know where I can go to get parts like that for a 67 to 72 GMC?

And one last thing. I see all types of vin decoders for the 67 to 72 chevy trucks but nothing for GMC's of the same year. Anyone know where to find one or can decode this CE10DBA15234?

Well thanks for any help anyone can offer.

CE10DBA15234

C=Conventional (2WD)
E=V8
1=3,900 lb. GVW rating
0=?? unsure
D=?? unsure
B=Baltimore assembly plant
A=?? unsure
15234 = 5,234 truck built

thats my best guess......but that is using LMC's catalog and I think it is more for the Chevrolet. I am sure some of the GMC guys here can tell you more.

Hope this helps....

heres a picture of what I did to my grill. I think it looks pretty good.

One think that I don't like, or can't find whatever. I want some of those cool cast aluminum valve covers, but the only ones I've seen say chevrolet on it.

Welcome to the board. I have a sister and brother-in-law that lives up there next to ya! Anyway GMC's are not rare if you look in my driveway! As far as the vin # here you go.

C=Conventional (2WD)
E=V-8
1=The third and forth number list model series
0=such as "10" or 1/2 ton
D=Wideside pickup
B=Baltimore assembly plant
A=GM assembly plat code
1=Model year designation
5234=Serial number sequence

I got this info from a GMC truck master parts book 1967-1969

GMC

Yes GMC's are cooler because they are rare, at my school there are 5 67-72 chevys and only 2 gmc's, oh and I have the only paneltruck.

Billit grill!? I guess not all GMC owners are GMC lovers huh?
Here's what my 69 GMC owner's manual says about the VIN numbers...

Hey all thanks for the vin # help.

AckAttack The grill really looks sharp that way! But my Chrome is still all shinny and all. If I do anything to it I do not want to destroy perfectly good original parts. Not that I plan on keeping my truck original! But some parts are hard to find in excellent original condition and after I rod this truck I want to get another one to make all original.

Thanks for the worm welcome from all of you!
