Re: my first paint job
Well I'm concerned about the hole in the Ozone and its depletion layer. Oh, you meant the paintjob that looks good as well. I kinda want to go with the group on this one and call bs on the first time paint thing. I normally don't bend to peer pressure but the truck looks so good. Did you paint the doors and front and bedsides at the same time? Jim

Re: my first paint job
It really was my first time shooting b/c, did some enamel once but looked like crap. Spent alot of time reading Jims advice and this is what I ended up with, and All I shot was the cab and doors, going to get the rest done in the spring. Thanks for all the positive comments

Re: my first paint job
Jim sorry about the ozone. Not to show my age but I can remember when You would flush with r12, turn a 30 pounder over and blow away. Back when imron hit the market our truck body shop would close all the doors and spray away. I have changed my ways in alot of ways, always use a recovery machine and always wear my respirator.

Re: my first paint job
I was just kiddinging about the ozone thing I too remember those old days. I also remember joking about eco nerds finding a new hole in the ozone layer right over my shop for some unknown reason. That paint once again really does look good and I am glad if I was able to help you along with any of my info that I have posted. It is my hope out of me doing this that someone that has'nt yet been there and done that can save a step or two and maybe keep from making a mistake by learning from mine and my other experiances. I have been at this a while and have built a ton of wrecks, anything from light hit change the fender and grille type stuff to hard hit replace stucture and skin type stuff with frame damage that I have put on my frame machine. So I have had a little bit to a ltta bit of some of all of it. More than likely I have run itno it or something very similar to it before. Keep up the good work on the beautiful green and white machine it is awesome. I look forward to seeing more of it . Jim

Re: my first paint job
I built a 2x4 frame that went the full length of my garage door, used 3 box fans blowing out with furnace filters on them and then put furnace filters on the rest of the frame. Walmart has a 4 pack of filters for 4 dollars worked good masked the walls and floor with 3m masking plastic.
