What bags are you guys running with the rear trailing arm set-up and how do you like it would you have ran another bag. I already have firestones in the front and was just gonna run the identical bag in the back but thought Id ask 1st. BTW I have the 2600's in the front.

Some of run slam bags,I have slams up front and out back.

I had 2600's on the rear of my 68 w/1.5" blocks. For reference, @ ride height the top of the axle tube is inside the frame rail 1" & the pumpkin barely peeks through the hole in the bed floor. This was about 30psi of air & I felt the ride was 'bouncy'. I needed to increase pressure to about 35psi min to smooth out the bounce but that raised the rear (too much rake).

I swapped to some smaller RE-6 Slams as well as some home-built 2" blocks. My logic is the slightly smaller bag will require more air psi for the same overall height which should eliminate the bouncy ride w/o the rake.

Unfortunately I haven't had it back on the road to confirm my theory.

im noticing not many people running slam specialties or other bags designed for airride applications why is that? just personal preference? ive always kind of wondered this you even see on the tv shows they hardly ever use slam bags

I bought RE7s for the rear, but will probably go with F9000's sleved instead.

Quick question. I dont have the money as of right now to do the full compressor and bag set up.. But i am working on the rear right now. I can afford the bags, but is there anything i can do to use the bags now??? Is there a valve i can put on them that will allow me to put air in and it hold without having the lines and compressor.. then i can just check the air with a guage.. Kinda like a bike tire????

I used F9000 sleeve bags. Put the bags behind the axle. Love 'em.

Yep, you have the right idea. You can use schrader valves as you described.

I can get those at suicide also??

Is that the absolute most ghetto way to do it, or has anyone else did that for a few months attempt while saving for teh compressor and lines???? I just dont want to have to take the bed back off.

I had mine set-up w/schrader valves for almost 2yrs. The only problem was sometimes I would tweak the needle-valve when adding air in the dark & then it wouldn't let me add any. After it happened more than once, I started keeping a couple extra close by (always carry a spare in the truck).

I have 4 quick connect Schraders in my toolbox so I can easily isolate a component (bag, valve, whatever) if I've got a leak or need to service something but still be able to drive the truck.

i ran mine for a while like this too there nothing to ghetto about really, only thing i didnt like was having to carry an airtank with me when i went to shows

I have a shrader on all my trucks air tanks... it is just handy just incase the compressors crap out on you or somethin.. Just run a T the two sides would be your bags then the other would be the shrader valve... you could run a cross if you wanted a gauge on it also.... just a thought
