Re: 56 BelAir LS swap quick look
Here is the finished chassis for the 56 Nomad. Pwr, strg, brakes, factory air, wonderbar, tinted glass, power pack, etc.
Not a good pic, but the first one I found. A guy wanted the car worse than I did so I sold it before I finished it. It's up in special-K's part of the country now.

Wow, that looks really good. Throw up some more!
There is a 57 Nomad that shows up for shows around here. Guy just got it back on the road after a deer hit a couple years ago. |

Re: 56 BelAir LS swap quick look
How come I never notice you had an LSx motor in this car?

Hey Tony, I don't know. Car is fun but not a big attention getter. Weren't you at MM?

Re: 56 BelAir LS swap quick look
Yes, I was there again this year. I saw your car there, but didn't get a chance to see you. I think two years ago you showed me the motor. Did it have the LSx then? I'll pay more attention next year.

Re: 56 BelAir LS swap quick look
Yep, we installed the LS in 2012. I was in and out a lot last MM and sorry to miss you! We'll have to hook up next year.

Re: 56 BelAir LS swap quick look
Yes, the power steering box from Borgenson is a nice quality piece. Bolted right in place and has performed well for 5,000 miles.

Hey Doug, was just looking through the Alternate Tinking suff and seen this. Glad I found it. Nice job on everything on the 56, you know how I like them. One day I will get a look at your rides...Jim

Re: 56 BelAir LS swap quick look
Doug, I'm going to Ohio next week to pick up a company truck. I haven't decided what route I'm taking on the way back, but if I come back on I-70 I might just swing by your place.

Re: 56 BelAir LS swap quick look
That green Chevy really is a nice ride! I always loved the '56es, and was close
to buying one, before I settled on my '57 Pontiac. Oh my, I really did an old timey engine swap when I swapped a TPI engine into my 1957 Chieftain, didn't I? In all honesty, I was looking for an LS1, but in 2010 the cost was too much. I found a 1987 Pontiac TransAm GTA, which donated the vital organs, a 350 TPI and the TH700r4 transmission. I still own the car, and it's had some 30,000 miles on the clock with the injected engine providing nice mileage. 42% increase in mpg, but then the old mill was in pretty bad shape |

Re: 56 BelAir LS swap quick look
Thanks Flatbed. The 56 is still a very fun driver. Your TPI swap looks good!
