Could they had done that via mail? probably.. but this works well. I am able to talk and share pictures etc with my family in NY,Colorado, Az, FL, PA and Ca on a daily basis, where as before, some I rarely spoke to at all.

To me it is a tool to keep us in touch. If I had no reason to talk to folks, then ya I would probably have no account either.

Aside from that, I did talk to many I graduated with, and remembered why I left the area I was in I did talk to past co workers etc.. but it got old quick. I just deleted them all off my friends list, minus a select few, and enjoy keeping up with good friends and family I do not get to see often.

Liz you hit the head on the nail.....I use FB to communicate with friends and family from around the world...I became close to a cousin I have never met in person and never go to know my uncles and aunts......Thats my REASONS..
