Re: baby moons dumb ?

For a baby moon to fit a truck ralley I think it would have to have a special center mount set up. Im sure there have been some done or tried, and WheelVintiques has a nice variety in their catalog.

Re: baby moons dumb ?

Just checked WheelVintiques center caps and they do have baby moons that say they fit Truck Ralleys.

72swb do you have any pics of yours or can you tell how yours installed?

Re: baby moons dumb ?

check this out....i just called Hubcapmike.com, and talk to mike he said that all standard steel 15" wheels will work no prob.......so if you want, look that site up and call them to see what they say. i told him i have a 72' chevy with a 15" ralley wheel and wanted to know if the piece would snap on........so givem a call.

sometimes i take my customer service job a little to far

Re: baby moons dumb ?

They will not work on this type of truck rallys. There's nothing on the center of the wheel for the cap to grab onto. This has been talked about before on here.

Re: baby moons dumb ?

i had to hit the search feature to find the thread i made last week, but here it is:

this should answer your questions: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ighlight=moons

And finally, a word of advice: I went to the junkyard this weekend and picked up the type of wheel you see pictured for $6/each, then paid $2.50 to have each tire removed.

I got my 5-lug steel wheels off a 1976 Oldsmobile or Cadillac. But there are a lot of trucks and vans, and even some 80's minivans that used this style of wheel you see pictured in my thread. I DO NOT KNOW if they made this type of wheel in a 6-lug!! So if you have 6-lug setup, I dunno what to tell you.

Some notes before you pay:

Measure the wheel from rim lip to lip. Mine were 16.25"
Measure from "nub" to "nub" shown in the pictures of the thread I linked above. Should be approximately 10" (plus or minus 1/8")
If 5-lug, be sure to measure for 5" bolt circle like this: http://www.easternmarine.com/em_stor...boltcircle.jpg

5-lug axle trucks used a 5-lug with 5" space. Newer 5-lug trucks like the S10 us 5-lug with 4.5", I think.

All in all, after buying some used trim rings and the wheels (with dismount), I'm out ... about $50 total, and I will probably pay $40-50 on baby moon caps unless I can manage to find some used ones somewhere cheaper (doubt it). I'll probably spend another $100 on cheap whitewall tires, just haven't figured out what size to get yet.

Re: baby moons dumb ?

I have never seen true baby moon center caps that fit truck rallies(Ive looked). The ones that someone posted above are full baby moon hub caps. Ive seen them listed for rally wheels but ended up always being for vette style truck rally wheels. If you find some let me know. I have a couple pics that I p-chopped too back when I really wanted to do the same thing...

Re: baby moons dumb ?

i think this could be done.....if one was to modify the wheel some....Weld some small tabs about a 1/8 inch smaller than the I.D of the baby moon...(Almost like a L bracket) to the wheel....the L bracket would have a small threaded area....then you could drill a small hole at the edge (lip) of the baby moon then just get a small screw to attach the moon....like a allen head or flush mount torx....Is this making sense to anyone but me....if i had a baby moon i could show how it could be done....It would be really easy to do I.M.O???????//

Yes I did find a set with center caps just need to find the beauty rings. ( any suggestions) I need to get them sand blasted and repainted. Thinking the color of my truck. Just thought the moons look cool.

Re: baby moons dumb ?

I thought about that but dont really want to have to look at the screws all the time. Also the thought of them not being perfectly centered & wobbling around driving down the road bugs me. Keep tossing out ideas...
