98 GMC ac/heater blower quit
Driving into town yesterday with ac on and blower running fine. Hit a bump and it quit. Checked the fuse panel and found it had blown the 25 A fuse in the blower circuit. Replaced the fuse but the blower is dead.
I pulled the dash panel loose to look for broken wire on the back side of the fan on/off speed control, but all looked fine. I've had that problem on another Chevy truck, same year etc. Anybody have any idea as to where to look for common cause for this - maybe broken wire, etc.? I'd sure appreciate any help!! Thanks, Dwayne |

Try replacing the Blower switch on the HVAC (Dash).

Pull the plug off the fan. Turn on the A/C. Using a voltmeter check for power. If you have power at the plug, the ground from fan is bad. Cut the ground wire and ground it as close as possible to the alternator.

Hey thanks a lot for your help. I'll do what gchemist suggested first - should have thought of that first myself.
Thanks again!;-) |

Re: 98 GMC ac/heater blower quit
What happens a lot on those is the motor housing becomes corroded on the inside. If you have power and ground, chances are pretty good this is the problem. Only real fix is a new blower motor.
