wiring woe's

ok anyone I've talked to in the chat about my truck has heard my story on the former owner being an @ss and hooking stuff up backwards frying the wiring. for those of you that haven't its mainly just some idiot thinking he's an electrician. a big DOH as homer would say. I have sort of an update on that. the new light harness is in and most of the engine harness. I have hit a snag though. a while back somewhere around fall I asked if anyone had any links for wiring. I recieved this from quite a few people http://www.geocities.com/chevroletc1070/v8engcomp.html
it worked great up until one part the alternator wire comes out of the bottom hole on the harness on that pic. But there's a spot where it looks like a few wires run together. thats my problem there is a blue wire that comes out and Im pretty sure goes all the way around the engine compartment. it shows in the diagram as being an 18 g. wire that is blue and white with a fuse in it. to me it appears like it comes from that connecting point for the other ones. is that where it goes? and if it is which hole on the harness does it plug into it appears to be the bottom or the middle one but Im not sure. it appears to split off into four 12 g red wires .one going back to the harness , one to post 3 of the volt. reg. , the main hot wire to the alt, and then around the engine comp. to a junction box with a fusible link to the battery. it then converts back to the blue and runs into a fuse and back into the firewall. what holes does it use on the firewall in the harness?

These wires are the ones that go to each side of your amp gauge. Look inside where the connector comes through the firewall and find thses 2 wires. That should show where they go in outside connector.
