I've got a bed with a steel floor that is pretty much ready for paint. But I've been t hinking i'd like to widen the wheel tubs to get about a 320-330 rear tire under it. I'd hate to cut up such a nice floor to do this to. Also, i heard a company is making a kit that lets yo u flip up a board in your wood bed to fill up your gas tank. I thought if I did put a wood bed in it, i could get that kit and get a better summit tank than what i ahve and have a very clean filler installation. What do y ou guys think?

I personally like the look of a wood floor, it has that cool antique thing about it.

I have a steel floor, and am determined it will be wood when I'm done. The under floor tank will also be a necessity eventually. The cost to convert a steel floor to wood is quite a bit more than a wood floor restoration. You have to replace virtually every thing but the bed sides,and wheel tubs. Wood and Parts in Windom MN makes a kit to convert. Costs about $1300.00 with oak boards sealer, unpolished stainless strips, and fasteners. Comes with all new crossmembers, rear sill, and the front panel. They even have a front panel with an embossed bow tie in it now. Looks very cool. I'll be trying to beg money all summer to get one. e-mail them at woodandparts@yahoo.com They'll send you a free catalogue. Even have an overlay insert for late model trucks that look like factory installed floors. Good Luck with your decision, at least I've made mine, now just need to find the funds......It's Allways Something!!!

I like a nice clean steel floor.Let me know if you go with the wood floor kit and would be interested in sell you still floor if its nice.

I was gonna give the floor to my dad if I didn't use it. I thinking that I am now. Coversion kit is 1300, plus tearing down my bed. The floor is as nice as i and my dad can get it. we sprayed with a thin coat of black laquor to get a look of how it "should" look. not perfect, but compared to other trucks, i think it'll be pretty sharp. The floor in the bed is one of the first things I look at. 9 out of 10 times i'm really dissapointed.
