looking for an eaton third

ok, got pulled away from the truck for the last month or so.....but everything seems to be back on track, and I am once again looking for an eaton third with a 4.10 gear set and a locker. If you got one, or know of one, let me know.

Thanks

Re: looking for an eaton third

Ive got some 5.56 and 5.13, the 4.10 are hard to find. As far as a locker, one out of a 14 bolt will fit, you just have to use the 14 bolt axles. You can buy the detroit lockers new for about $400.

pumpkin, isn't there some machine work also involved in the wheelbearing area of the hubs? i've been thinking about this in order to get a gear ratio in the mid 3's

Re: looking for an eaton third

Hey Shelby, I've got a friend from the board that has two 4.11 lockers. He's holding one for me and I think he said he was going to post the other on the board. I'm going to call him this week to set up an install date, I'll ask him if he still wants to sell the other one and get back to you.

I'm not shure of what you mean by your question. The detroit locker for the eaton and 14 bolt are not complete differentials. They are just the parts to replace the spider gears. The differential housing is bolted togeather. I don't know if the ring and pinion, or differential assy are interchangeable between the two. I like the eaton as it is the strongest diff, by design. I solve the brake problem of getting drums, that are unavailable, by converting to discs. I use cadilac rear calipers that have the parking brake built in.

I have a 4.10 NoSpin (locked rear) Eaton. It is still under a parts truck but if you really want it then I will pull it.

Re: looking for an eaton third

Does anyone know how many teeth this ring gear should have on it to be a 4.10? I can't really see the pinion well enough to count and divide.

Re: looking for an eaton third

The ring gear should have some numbers on the edge, i don't remeber the order they're in but i think you just have to divide the big number by the little one

Re: looking for an eaton third

shelby987, look at this other post of yours and there are pictures to help ID a locker. You can see on mine that there is no inner gear. Also, I have confirmed it as a 4.10.

Re: looking for an eaton third

I know this is resurrecting an old post, but do any of you guys have a 5.13 third for a Eaton? I'd be interested, especially if it's got a locker, but beggars can't be choosers.

Well I don't know about swapping in the whole diff carrier, but the locker itself comes out of the 14 bolt carrier and goes into the eaton carrier.

Mine might be 4.10 but i think it's 4.56 I'd have to check.

Re: looking for an eaton third

Wrangler,
let me know if it is 4:10...if you want to sell it.

I think mine is 4:56...very low gear. I am just trying ot get something so I can keep up with traffic.

How would I tell the gear ratio?

Thanks
Rich
