Where did you mount your trailer brake controller?

Just wanted to see where you have mounted your braker controller, so let's see what you've got!

Re: Where did you mount your trailer brake controller?

I mounted mine on a little metal brace that is right at the bottom of the dash under the steering column. There were holes there already so I just used a little machine screw and nut to mount it. I'll try and get some pics.

Would love to see some pics John. I just can't bring myself to drill through a good dash.

Re: Where did you mount your trailer brake controller?

No drilling where mine is. The holes were already there from the factory. It's right where the bottom part of the dash ends underneath. There was like a metal plate that supports the bottom side of the dash, and I mounted it right there. Still easy to reach too.

Here are some pics.

Re: Where did you mount your trailer brake controller?

Maybe this will shame me into finally mounting mine on my '05 GMC. As usual it was one those rush-rush deals. I bought a '72 Ford short Styleside F-100 at the Oregon border and had to go back to get it. I bought a car trailer, and a brake controller to turnaround and go get the Ford. I hate drilling any new holes in anything, and wasn't sure where the best spot would be to place it. I figured leaving it loose would help me decide the controllers final destination. That was three years ago and the thing is still flopping around in the cab somewhere on the floor. If any of you saw my story in the latest Custom Classic Trucks called Mr. Trailer Safety you'll see the controller is hanging loose. Just as soon as it stops raining and if I can find the mounting bracket that's somewhere in the garage, I'm going to mount it... honest.

Sure you will John...

I did catch your article about trailering tips for the average user. You covered a lot of great things that everyone needs to consider. We'll be looking for an update on the mounting progress.
