Re: Valve question

Because Teflon tape is NOT a sealant ... it's a lubricant.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thread_seal_tape

Quote:
Thread tape is appropriate for use on tapered threads, where it is the thread itself that provides the seal surface ... <snip> ... the defining characteristics of PTFE is how good it is at defeating friction. The use of PTFE tape in tapered pipe threads performs a lubricating function, which more easily allows the threads to be screwed together, to the point of deformation, which is what creates the majority, if not all, of the seal.
I can promise you that the natural gas feed line in MY house does NOT have Teflon tape on it. I can not speak for others.

Re: Valve question

well i went ahead and tried out the permatex, i hope it works, les than 5 bucks and plenty to tighten up the whole system. it might be a little bit before i get to actually try it out..i still have to wire the whole system and figure where i want to mount everything.

Re: Valve question

The permatex should work fine, I've used it on CO2 lines before.

Loctite makes great products and wouldn't hesitate to use them.
Here is the PDF info for the loctite products:

I currently have a can of Rectorseal #5 I use for air lines and gas pipe. It is what most of the guys around here use to fit gas pipe.(Most recently for swimming pool heater gas supply line)
