I have a holley 4160 carb and I'm trying to decide on a fuel pump. Is there a good setup for using an electric pump? It looks to me that maybe i would need to make a bracket and attach to the frame rail. I'm also wondering if I shouldn't just use a mechanical pump. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Can somebody tell me what advantages are in an electric pump over a mechanical. I'm trying to decide if the extra effort is worth it.

The only advantage i've really found is just telling people you have an electric fuel pump. It does take drag off the cam, but translate maybe a tenth of a HP. If you do get an electric pump you need to put in a return line so when you turn the key on it doesn't burn up the pump. I've also read that most pumps will go out after time because they get too hot and thats the reason GM, Ford, ect. put them in the tank, to keep them cool. They make some now where the fuel flows through the pump area to help it keep cool. Don't know how much more that helps. I was set on getting an electric, but then got weighing the +/-'s. Mech's are cheaper, easier to mount, they quit pumpin whenever the engine stops (safety), plus they can feed anything you hook them to, within reason.
