Speedo problem

I am having problem with my speedometer as am i driving the needle does not move neither does my odometer. If i turn on my lights the light comes on so i know there is power. Where should i start? The previous owner stated that the problem was a bad connection to the distribuiter. Does the speedmeter work off the distribuiter? Please help!

Re: Speedo problem

The Tach works of the dist.
The speedo works off a cable that is connected to the transmission tailshaft.
