LOL, the sensor is located on the trasmission tail housing. Is your speedo working correctly?

24 VSS Set when in motion only - disregard if set in park

Re: 1987 (Vss)Vehicle Speed Sensor location

I just checked on my '87 and I am getting the same code. Speedo works when the truck is cold but after a few miles it stops working. No speed sensor on the transmission tailshaft on my 700r4. Just and adapter with the cable coming out of it that goes to the speedo. Is there a speed sensor behind the speedo?

What was the outcome of your speed sensor issue?

I have a 89 and i feel mine is affecting my timing but i never get any codes.

If i put my truck in neutral while drifting even at 5mph my idle increases to 1500 rpm.

Mine ended up being the speedo cable adapter at the trans. I removed it then went to a speedo shop to have the gear changed in the trans to calibrate it. Been fine ever since.
