late model seats conversion

I found a good deal on a full set of 03 suburban seats and was wondering if anybody has mounted a 2nd row bench in a 67-72 2nd row position. The 03 seat flips up and lays down. I would like to keep this feature to allow access to 3rd row. Thanks for any advice

Re: late model seats conversion

I'm looking to do the exact same thing. Hopefully someone out there's already done it. I did some preliminary measurements, and I think the rear bench from the '03 is a little deeper (sits a bit further back from the front seat) in the actual '03 Sub, so to get them to flip forward and lay flat, some modification will either have to happen to the floor on the classic Sub, or modification so the brackets on the new seats.

Curious to get other input.

Re: late model seats conversion

I have the 60/40 split bench in the second row of mine. Out of a '05 Suburban. The second row leans forward and slides to allow access to the third row. No complaints out of my kids, but the second row doesn't have a ton of leg room. I have considered making mods to the floor mounting brackets to move the seat backwards about 4". The only true issue would be the latch that releases the seat to lean forward. It is at the bottom corner and would have to be moved. If that was done, I anticipate I would be able to get my seat to lay flat.

In fact, if you decide against the '03 seats, let me know. I am looking for another set for my dad who lives in Beckley... not too far from you.
