Anyone work in an auto parts store or member old stuff from them

Looking for a load handler coil spring kits, not a leaf spring kit.

They use to sell them, use to come in two kits, red and blue colored coils.
Think it was 1500 and 3000 lb kits
can't member.


These went over the shocks and bolted to them like coil over springs.


All I can find is the leaf spring kits.

some never liked them, but installed right, they works great.
[install unloaded they work great/right. Not till stock spring is in its load do they help, so it rides normal until you add weight. no rough ride]

I have a set on my 74 Olds. The springs got the job done, but after a while they started squeaking against the shocks.

Yea that can happen, them goofy cups can rattle too.

Here how I install them.

Forget the goofy cups and only use the bottom clap.

put the rubber sleeve and spring over the shock on the car and put back together, then once the car is on the ground, crawl under and by hand push the springs up till it stops then install the 1 bottom clamp.

This installs them unloaded so they don't work until the stock springs have already started, keeping a cush ride till weight is added. Giving a better ride then just tossing heavy duty stock springs at it.

Ended up getting some of these, I don't have the cash to rebuild the whole front end as once apart it would be foolish to put back 30yr old parts just to change two springs but Im also tired of having to be careful on bumps n dips at speed.

Was gonna just get two shock and that kit two post up but these ended up being a cheaper route and had no idea they even sold them for the front.

$64 for 2 was a good deal.

Though I can already tell instlation will be fun.

I member last time I did the shocks they came compressed with those plastic bands on them to help install; as they will grown longer then the area n fight ya. I member it taking all I had to push the shock back up and hold it to get a bolt started.

Now I got a 500lb spring to compress too.

And id like to pre load the left side a little as it rides a tit lower of course from only carrying my butt around. Or just feels that way cause the left side has more weight when in it.

Finally got those shocks changed today, what a difference they make.
The added spring weight/load was helpful.

Thought only 1 shock was bad but both were bad.

hardest part really was getting those top shock bolts off the rod.

The easy way inthe end was just drilling through the cent of the nut / rod and taking an air chisel to it. Was the quickest n easiest way.
