88 tail lights

hi i have a problem with the tail lights on mine and my dads 88, i have a 88 gmc sle k1500 and he has a chevy silverado k1500 (no real difference) both also have a 350 tbi and 700r4 trannys, not sure what all matters and dont so im saying the specs, but we both have running light, with the gmc, i have running lights and thats it, my turns signals used to work but now they dont even come up on the dash anymore, no reverse lights and no brake lights, i have a led strip on the bumper and everything worked on that before but no i have nothing, i have running lights on then noting on m led strip anymore. then the chevy we have running lights turn signals but when we hit he brakes the driver side works and the passenger goes out if some one could help please all the fuses are good and the wires are good

bad ground or bad circuit board.

I removed both rear lights, ground a bare spot on the metal brace and then put a circular connector on a black wire and spliced it into the ground wire on the plug. I did this for both sides and did blow a fuse when i accidentally shorted out tail light wire. also check the plug under your truck your the harness connects to the taillight harness. Sometimes people will put a T connector in there for trailer lights and this plug corrodes and causes problems. I have had no trouble with my lights now for over three years since I put the extra ground in. Make sure the bulbs are making good contact as well.
