Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks v2.0

Sy2767, that's a nice truck you've got there. You asked for thoughts so here's mine. Fauxtina never looks like or as good as actual patina and since you are familiar with vehicle wraps I would recommend looking into a patina wrap. I've seen them on other vehicles and they are much more convincing than fauxtina. At least in photos.

Just a thought.

I never really gave that much thought, thanks for the idea.

Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks v2.0

I posted a pic of my truck earlier (page 2 of this thread, mid April), and wrote about the plans for it. Now it's looking a bit different, before pic inset here.
I guess this is somewhere between a real patina and a fauxtina job. I just sanded off the gray paintjob as well as I could, washed the rubber seals with thinners, gave the rusty hood a light once over with a DA sander and topped it all off with a light coat of flat clear. The clear is still semi wet in this pic, it's getting matter still when completely dry.
High gloss black wheels with new rubber and chrome acorn nuts make the truck look maintained.

Re: Patina, shop logo'd, rusty trucks v2.0

i'm lovin your Longbed hardwaycooke. the patina, stance , and chrome are a great combo. If you don't mind me asking , where did you get your tailpipe cutouts, and if you have any pics of your exhaust routing from underneath it would be very helpful for me. I am going to have a complete exhaust done on my LWB while I'm away at deer camp for a week in Dec. and that looks to be exactly what I'm looking for in cutouts and exit area. Sorry for hijacking the thread.

Routed over frame between body. Nothing cut. Got the cutouts on ebay from a marine supplier then added the tips after for the look and to keep debris off my wheels/tires.
Thanks btw...lots of hard work to get here. All new panels, distressing paint to match...you get the idea. Hope to finish her this winter...

That's a mean looking truck. The dash looks great. What bulbs did you use to get that green/blue glow?

I added some more patina to my rig. My new interest, corroded copper.
Faux patina on the rims, real copper radiator pipe.
Miracle gro mixed with water makes bright green stains fast.
Now I want to do the rest of the hoses.
