2001 K2500 Questions

Hey all,I've spent most of my time here on the 88-98 board, and now I'm thinking of updating a bit.I found an 01 3/4 ton 4x4,at a price I'd be willing to pay.
Its a duramax truck with the allison auto trans.245000 miles, documented trans rebuild at 212000,rear case half has been changed, not documented but they claim that the injectors are fresh.
What other issues should I be looking for? It's relatively clean for a 13 year old truck.I'm going back tomorrow to deal, are there any other common problems I need to be on the lookout for?

Re: 2001 K2500 Questions

Check the transfer case, hopefully it's the manual shift as Autotacs are more prone to issues. Looks for leaks, 4 lo engagement, and the like.

Injector spider is an expensive nightmare on these and the Allison 5 speeds are good, just not as bulletproof as the later 6 speeds but if it was well rebuilt you should be fine. If the injectors are bad it will blow black smoke for days so it should be pretty obvious unless they're just starting to crack. Other then that they are solid trucks!

Thank you for the response, I brought her home today. This is my first oil burner, hooked it to my car trailer just for grins, and all I can say is wow.I never thought I'd say this, but I have no desire to tow with a bigblock after that.
