Longbed stepside tonneau

Looking for a tonneau for my 1971 longbed stepside and having no luck. Local upholsterers want at least $500 for a snap style cover...seems too much, doesn't it?
Anyone have one they bought for less.
Seems the fact that it is a stepside is the problem, can find non-stepside longbed versions but not stepside.
Anyone?
Thanks

Re: Longbed stepside tonneau

Mine cost me $250.00 total, of course i'm a long ways from you.
It fits great, found these guy's off the beaten path out side of atlanta,

Having said that, If i had it to do over again, I wouldn't do it. Turns out I
use my truck quite often and taking it off and reinstalling it becomes a pain,
"yes i'm lazy"
Aiso now i have what seems like a million holes for the snaps. should i want to leave it off.
Probably not what you want to hear, But good luck which ever way you go.

Re: Longbed stepside tonneau

My dad had a local guy make my truck a wood and aluminum-framed cover that you sit down into the stake holes in the bed sides. It's pretty cool but doesn't lift up.

After I renovate my garage I plan to put in a hoist so I can remove and replace it on my own.

I'd suggest talking with a local porch cover maker.......someone with some skill and a brake could make something nice up for you but be ready to pay.

Re: Longbed stepside tonneau

I paid right around $400 for the cover on my short bed stepper. In my opinion it is best to go with the rail type and not let them put the snaps on the truck itself. I am very pleased with mine.
