POR-15 Question

As I've always said, I only use POR-15 when necessary, but it's time to order another can or two. Now, years ago there were only 2 to pick from. There was the Heavy Silver and the Thin Black. Upon a quick online check, I've noticed different colors now available and wanted to verify that the Silver is still the Heavy kind and Black the Thin kind. That info was not clear on online, so I decided to call.

The guy there at customer service acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. I explained it to him and he really couldn't answer my question. I thanked him anyway and puzzled, I thought of you all, lol.

I first used their products in the late 70's and have been using them on and off all through the years, but it's been a while since I used it last.

The Silver was a heavier coat more designed for rustier metal.

Trying to find out if the Silver still the Heavy Kind like it used to be?

I never used the silver before last year, but I bought a can accidentally (look at both cans before walking out of the store!) and I could see no difference in the two products other than color. I did like the silver for spraying into the voids as it is much easier to check the coverage.

Yeah, that's what I'm finding out. The good 'ol Heavy Silver now seems to be history. I also asked some members on an old car board and they have told me that the company has had new owners at some point in time. Probably why the guy on the phone could not answer my question. One member also said that he had a lot of trouble with the "new" Silver. How did the Silver work for you?

I had no problems with the silver. I didn't spray it on looking for a nice uniform finish either. I brushed it on or used my undercoating gun to spray the voids. I would guess it would be hard to get a consistent looking finish with a sprayer without agitation.
