My 20 year project is finished!

Finally after almost 20 years I've finished restro moding my Dad's 1970 GMC 2500 truck.

What a long strange trip this has been...

Family and life in general slowed this project down.

Then

Now

The gas door is from a late 80's Chevy truck. The cover in the bed is from a Mazda truck and I forget what year.

The thought crossed my mind, for a few seconds. I like to keep the looks simple and stock. Sometimes I get a little carried away with the stuff underneath.

Re: My 20 year project is finished!

Great job, beautiful truck! Understand all too well about life & family. You give me encouragement, I'm three years in & feel like I'm going nowhere fast.

Questions:
How well do the blower & FItech work together? Thinking of adding a blower at some point.

What color red is that?

So far the blower and FiTech are getting along great. The setup for the FiTech was just adding a boost reference, selecting engine size, cam (No 2 of 4 options) and adjusting the Idle Air Control (IAC) no pinging at all.

The paint code is 81 Bright Red. I think I first saw it on a 92 Corvette.

I understand the need for encouragement. Sometimes you think it will never happen. This project stalled for about for about 15 years. Then two years ago the wife said finish it or get rid of it.

You see my choice.

WOW! Drop dead gorgeous truck! But where's the camper? Do we have to wait 20 years for it? Seriously great work.

Beautiful truck !! I spent 4 years on mine and that seemed like a long time. Your truck confirms that "patience is a virtue".

My Dad and Mom sold that camper around 1980. They towed a travel trailer after that until his death in 1993.

This was never a work truck but it did a fair amount of hauling.

I don't know about cubic money I did all the labor myself. With the exception of some minor body work and the paint job.

This is a rust free truck from California. At the end of this month we are moving from Georgia back west to Arizona. Another rust free state.

Re: My 20 year project is finished!

Hey . First of all you did a fantastic job on your truck! I know your dad would be in tears to see what you have done with the truck! as far money spent on it especially since you did most of the labor yourself ,spreading the cost of 20 years it was probably no more than 1k a year! lol! That's a big win in anybody's book! Rufus in all seriousness have a safe move out to Arizona and not sure if I'll be able to meet you before you leave us here in Georgia (I'm the guy with the short bed truck similar to yours) Sure we will see you here on these forums . Take care my friend!
