Unique trucks...
I ran across these last week while down at the beach house. The Dually GMC is pretty cool. The other one was interesting also but not near the coolness as the dually.

Re: Unique trucks...
The GMC reminds me of this one that came through here a year or two ago with Alaska license on it. I know nothing about it.
That REO looks interesting.

I'd hate to drive that chop top all the time! He must have Corvette seats in it!

Re: Unique trucks...
I think that '67 GMC deserves better respect than what that owner gives it. Pretty cool I guess, and that's the most I can give it. I see a much nicer truck behind the silly and useless theme it now has.
Back when I contracted snow plowing I ran '70 & '72 K/20s that were my everyday work trucks I'd have to adapt to plow mode and back every time it snowed. Hours on end behind the wheel pushing snow allowed a lot of truck dreams. I wanted to take a Blazer, put a 1/2 top on it, 8-lug axles, mount plow and salt (urea) spreader, and paint it like the state hiway trucks... chrome yellow with anti-glare black hood surface. They also always painted wheels gloss black with silver outer ring and lug nuts. The ultimate dedicated snow pushing machine. But I gave up contracting before that happened. This is as close as I've seen to my pipe dream

Re: Unique trucks...
I had one of those in my 1965 C-50
They were easy to work on, fortunately - because the kid that I bought it from had it overhauled and ground down the valves to a razor edge instead of replacing them. One side went out, and then the other a few years later so I ended up doing all the work twice. First time was in a snow storm in the middle of moving from one state to the other so don't blame me too much for not doing both heads at once. Second time around I decided to replace that really short "radiator" hose between the intake manifold and the water pump housing, since you have to have one or the other off to replace the hose.* So I just went into a parts store and asked for X inches of Y diameter hose. The rude and stupid young woman asked me what it was for and said no such part ever existed and that I was "jury rigging." Gawd, this was 35 years ago and young people were getting stupid already back then * Water pump is really dead simple: pull off the fan and pulley, and then four bolts hold the pump into the housing. Cheap, too - because you're not replacing all that iron. Anyway … that 1967 GMC deserves some sort of useful bed over those duallies. It could even haul a nice camper. Folks just don't have any respect for these hard working old trucks.

I wanted to put some on that red wrecker I had. The bed floor showed that it had them at one time by the holes. I found the ones with shields

Re: Unique trucks...
Thanks, I'm waiting on my brother to check on some used ones. He is the Peterbuilt manager in Charlotte. I sent him a message about finding some good used ones for me. He is going to ask around next week about some.

Re: Unique trucks...
Fat stacks is what you're after. 4" is minimum like on medium duty trucks. Those Petes will be sportin' the big guns. A truck with a working body on the back is cool with stacks.
I built that '70 C/30 157" with a low profile Reading utility body years ago. Before I ordered the body I considered shortening it up, 5th wheel platter, gang box (looks like a sleeper), stacks, saddle tanks, rear fenders/flaps, steel visor, air horns... a mini semi to haul a 5th wheel enclosed trailer. I decided I didn't want to be married to a trailer We all know this one. It's cool and all that, but I feel the same about it as that '67, except it doesn't seem as disrespected. It just needs a purpose and I'd like it 10x as much. How about a slick roll-off dumpster? Real low sides, polished, stainless tarp hooks and details

Re: Unique trucks...
Yea that is a cool truck no doubt but I'm not real keen on the side pipes just some stacks.
I have thought about this truck though.

Re: Unique trucks...
First pic - GMC dually. Lose the hideous front bumper, hood ornament, and sun visors and I see a pretty nice truck.
The yellow chop top I'd guess maybe 2 1/2 cranks to roll the window up and down. That a plus - I guess. 68bowtie - I'd like to see that super short truck in a finished state. For some reason I really like it. Special K - The bow tie back glass one. Sometimes I just ask myself "Why?" A lot of work to make a truck ugly, but that's just my opinion. Good thing about old cars/trucks beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder.

Re: Unique trucks...
I think the same. That is what I call "One Man's Vision" right there! Must be a fiberglass graft. Gotta have that spoiler to keep that hugger on the road. Nova tail lights would look good on a Nova. Why not bowtie lights?

Re: Unique trucks...
Yeah, I hear you. My old 71 stepside had tail lights from a 1970 Kingswood station wagon in the rear fenders. Smaller and a bit less obtrusive than the Nova lights, but it had been done by a PO and not me.
The jury is still out on what I will do for tail lights on my 67 stepper. I got plenty of time to make up my mind though. Keep the photos coming guys. Cool to see folks vision in photo form. Even if I don't really follow it.

Re: Unique trucks...
The rear lights depend a lot on staying with sport bumper vs other alternatives for me. But me no put light in fender. It's that simple. I like them plain, stock or older Stepside (smaller) and lowered to just above the bumper.
Ok, how about unique in a some will love way?* Not so, not that I'm saying they were, per no bashing rules, goofy unique (if that's what you thought) *Yeah, then some will hate...……………. …….others undecided...………………………… and on...………………………….

I don't know, but I always used to hook my stepside tailgate chain hooks UP through the holes so they would hang neater and be more secure.
