ok,ok...i know that this isn't a chevy or a gmc ( nor a truck for that matter! ) but it is a 1 ton. i figured i'd post it for what ever it is worth. all i can say is this guy really must have loved this vw but really needed a truck. or maybe he had alittle too much time and money. what do you think? it is (was) a 1970 vw van originally........... here is the full discription of it. A 90% dissection & resurrection on this unique radical custom 1970 VW one-ton pick-up truck dually. All new steel on flatbed, quarter panels, floor boards, under carriage & structural has been replaced. Sprayed with a rust inhibiter that they use on the Alaskan Pipe Line, then sprayed with an undercoating. Moreover, I replaced the orig 15.9 gas tank with a custom made aluminum 38 gal. tank and used up every inch of space. Then we welded and bolted in the fifth wheel to the frame, this is a fold down hitch system to conceal it for full use of flat bed, then added 4 tie down concealable cleats. Installed electric brake hook up for trailer. Welded flatbed on and everything else, added custom made fenders for dually application, one of a kind. I since replaced dually with Centerline rims with BF Goodrich tires(back) P295/50R15 and have room to put wider racing tires on if you want. The front tires P205/70R15. Replaced original engine & transmission with a bigger one. A new rebuilt 4 speed 2 liter 4 cylinder hydraulic motor with a 2 barrel Webber carb is much better.(Again) no room to spare, a perfect fit. Custom overhead AC system installed very nice.

FYI, that '68 1-ton long step posted by 7gmc2 is for sale on eBay.

I came across it a couple of days ago while doing a few searches. Looks really nice. NOT mine.

Here's a link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...e=STRK:MEWA:IT

Hopefully I'm not out of line posting this here. Just thought I'd note this truck since it's picture was posted earlier.

Also, since no one has put a pic of 68GMCDually's truck over here, I listed a few of those also.

In my travels yesterday I drove by a nice original GMC 9 foot step side. I was going to fast too stop but I know where it is. I should phone the business and see if it is for sale or not. They definetly have character.

Wheel Base Opinions???

I have been playing around with the idea of going with a custom wheelbase on my C-30 since I have to shorten the frame anyway. I "put" a bed on my C-30 using the what would be the std 127" WB, and would roughly be a 124" WB. I can't decide which I like better. The shorter WB makes the truck look a little stockier, but it also kinda makes the rear quarter look too long. What do you guys think? Please excuse my ghetto Photochop work!!
