I like the bed idea. If you can make it look like it came that way from the factory would be cool. I have thought of trying that myself, but never have. Good luck and have fun with the truck!!!

Joe,
That's what I going to try to do. I am not going with anything on the truck that didn't come on them on the body or interior. I'm glad that its a '67 because I won't have the challenge of trying to making the side marker lights look right. I haven't really seen one of these done with sidemarkers in place that looks stock.

Special K,
I am leaning towards it myself. I will probably actually use the frame and cab from the 67 GMC C2500 that has the utility boxes on it, and and leave the 67 C-30 frame and running gear as is. I am going to use a different engine/tranny, front suspension (going to discs off a newer 1 ton) and a newer dually Dana 70 rearend anyway. The 292/SM420/Eaton seat-up only has 61,000 original miles on it, so I could easily drop a another cab over on it, and put a flatbed back on it, or a dump or wrecker body. It just runs, drives, and stops too well to totally tear it apart. I may end up putting the cab/front clip off the 71 GMC (pictured below) that I just bought on it. I could also use the cab/front clip off the 70 Chevy that I got the bed for my dually project on it too. (pictured also). Either way I've got lots of trucks, and lots of options. If the utility body ends up being too rough or whatever, I will probably end up selling LWB step off the GMC below. It is a pretty nice bed.

My 1-Ton Trucks + 2.5 Tonner

Can I play @ this one Too?

Here are some pics of My Trucks. Te first two are my 1965 GMC 2500 with a 157" wheelbase, it's a looong truck. It has a 60-61 GMC Hood and dealer nstalled Factory Brush Guard. The next one is a bit newer, it's a 1994 GMC 3500 Dually Pickup with over 230,000 miles and still running. The last one is somewhat BIGGER then a one ton, it's a Chevrolet L60 Viking LCF type truck, it has a wheelbase that is 6" shorter than a longbed pickup of it's day, 121".

So now I have a question? What's this "Member of the 1-Ton club!" I see posted in some of your sigs? I guess I could be a member too.....

Concept Photo of My 1965 GMC

Here is a photo of what I would like to end up with from my 1965 GMC 1-ton Project. I have a long wheel base, so if I used a short bed with stepside fenders, I'll have room for a 42" sleeper type cab between the truck cab & bed. of course the truck will be all one color when done, thats just the color of the truck I photo shoped together for the pic....

Welcome aboard Jolly

I first would like to say welcome to the site, and that I have used your website alot. I have a '65 GMC K2500 4X4 with a 305E and a SM420. Secondly, you definitely qualify as a Member of the 1 ton club. Just pit in your sig if you wish. There are a lot of 60's trucks with GMC V6's around here. There is a 65 C6500 Dump truck that I can get a few miles down the road, but I have too many prpjects as it is, and really prefer the 67-72 trucks. I would love to find a clean '67 GMC C3500 with a factory V6 (preferably 351).

Here is my baby. I got her about a month ago. I have had some electrical problems, they are funky problems. But I lover her!!
here are some specs:
454 bored .030, decked .020. Speed pro hyperuetectic pistons w/teflon coated skirts. The bottom end is balanced on a hines balancing machine. Crane energizer cam (not sure of the specs any more), double roller timing set. Oil passage's and block have been modified for low restriction oil flow thru out the oiling flow path (enlarging oil holes and smoothing out transition
areas of oil flow). The heads were cleaned mag'd and resurfaced, machined for positive seals, bronze guides, 3 angle valve job, then ported to a medium
race port on the intake and exhaust ports. The bowls were heavily ported to remove all the smog restrictive casting material. Crank was turned 10/10 (I
believe..maybe 10/20 ect.), rods were resized w/ARP bolts. The heads have edelbrock springs and I don't remember what kind of rocker arms. Headman Headders 3" with Flowmasters all the way out to the rear wheels. All work done by previous owner. I am just enjoying the loud gas guzzler.

Well guys I've had another change of plans. I decided to follow 68gmcdually's lead, and decided to put my 67 C-30 on a newer chassis. I looked around awhile and found this '94 C3500. It has the Turbo Diesel engine I wanted, OD transmission, PS, PB and A/C. I can't wait to do the cab transplant!!

Anybody need a good utility body??

Your truck has alot less rust on it then mine, plus the diesel is a definite bonus, not like the propane one that I ended up with. Oh well, I think that you will definetly like the end result, I know I sure did.

Hey how from from Mobil(e) ?? are you, I have friends that winter down there. I was trying to organize a winter get away for a week or so.

Good luck, let me know when your truck looks like this.

I'm in East Central AL (on the Alabama - Georgia line) , about 300 miles from Mobile, so I'm not that close.

This truck runs great and drives so much better than a older one. It also has A/C and all the power stuff I wanted. Did you use the A/C stuff out of the '92 C3500 on your truck?? If so, any tips and pics would be a great help.

It looked to be much cheaper to go this route than putting all that stuff on the '67 Chassis. I'm hoping to use this truck for some long hauls, and I wanted it a little more comfy than it would have been. I have been driving it around in its current form, and I have been VERY impressed with the fuel mileage it is getting, and I love the smooth power and torque that the Turbo diesel makes.

I still have the other 6.2 with all the stuff to turbocharge that I was going to put in the '67. I'm thinking that after I get done with this project, that I might put the 6.2 Turbo in my '69 C-30 Car Hauler.

I am glad that you are driving it around a bit. I only drove mine from the back of the car hauler around the shop and into the hoist bay to torch the cab off. Had I actually drove it I would have realized that the tranny was on its way out, but that is a project for this winter now.

If I am down that way I will let you know, I am doubtful that we will go now though, since I am leaving Tuesday for Hershey, PA. and the wife wants a house next spring so I have to watch my pennies.
