I showed the wife pics when I came in last night. She ask me if I was mad. I said no, just something else I have to figure out.

Scott most of that is mud, the rock damage seems to be minimal right now.

The first thing that I did was flip the bulkhead fitting to see if it would help. It helped tremendously. It actually allowed clearance, but if the tires were ever turned full lock and I hit a bump there might have been some contact. I needed an extra hole anyway for the condensation drain, so i drilled another hole and lowered the fitting one notch.







That gave me plenty of clearance.





I finally get to use the crimper I bought 3 years ago.

Found a home for the drier. I also made my first line and it worked.



I don't recall where the fittings on the left came from. I think I got them when I got the crimper 3 years ago which was Nostalgic Air Parts (NAP). They even came with the o ring on them. The fitting on the right came from NAP. They must be using a different vendor. The ones on the left are a better product in my opinion. You can see the manufacturer on the right one.



I ran the -8 line from the compressor to the condensor and I don't like how it looks. I need to figure out a better way to clean it up some.







If I go this route it will be clamped where the fan attaches to the shroud.



This is what the top will look like. The heater hoses will run parallel to them. That's the plan.

Sorry to Hi-Jack, but while everyone is paying attention to the AC hose thing. Find a local hydraulic shop, either Parker, Gates, or Aeroquip/Eaton. They will most likely have a great selection of AC hose and hose fittings (I am a Parker Dealer and I do...). If they have a "good guy" in the shop should selll you loose hose and fittings for you to take home and mock up. There is normally a labour charge for the crimping, just pay that up front as well. Take your hoses back when you are happy with them and have them crimped professionally. These shops normall cut bend flare and or braze tube assemblies as well. In your case Alan, maybe a tube assembly somewhere in that long ugly -8 line may be the ticket. We make AC and PS assemblies, often with tube assemblies as part of the hose assembly, all of the time for the local dealers, and mechanics. Our hoses are ready in minutes, and at a fraction of the cost of an OEM assembly.

Thanks Craig, I've got a plan for the -8 now. I'll use a bulkhead and go thru the radiator support. Still planning it out.

Thanks for sharing the info, I don't mind at all. It's helpful info. I don't have any of those close by, but did make some phone calls. I called a local radiator shop. They use to sell fittings, now they only make hoses. After two more calls I found North Georgia Rods and Customs. They are great guys and sell everything.

I picked up some bulkhead fittings and some slip on heater fittings. Not sure if i will use the slip ons. What Larry at North Georgia Rod's and customs said made sense. He said if you blow a heater hose with crimped fittings your kind of screwed. It's a throw away hose along with the fittings. I know it can be patched or bypassed to get home. But the truck will not see everyday use. I don't know which way to go now. They have some nice clamps with a nut look to them.



This is where I'm thinking of using the -8 bulhead fitting from the condensor to the compressor. Getting to the back side will be a little tough. This will elliminate the long hose pictured before.

I picked this up for $15 cause it was missing a fitting. I was planning on cutting it down to the 2 heater fittings. Then I realized tonight that I need the -10 for the compressor. I might get one that is complete and cut off the -6. This will change how the hoses come off the compressor. Instead of coming down the fan shroud they might be angled toward the battery.



Laid a couple hoses to see how it will look.

Got the -8 from the condensor to the comp ran. It's not crimped yet. It will need some adjusting once I get the other hoses in. Going back to my original plan of running them up next to the radiator shroud..

I also got the -6 from the drier thru the radiator support. It's not crimped either. I will get the rest ran then crimp them.

I feel a lot better now. It's a little neater and thought out.
