SCOTI will your shock mount mod work here with some shorter shocks ?

The air line are pretty easy I undestand all that for now.
I would say the Super Track Bar and the rear shock relocator are neccessary.

The SlamSpecialties SS-7 bag is a new version of the old RE-7. Suppose to get 1" more lift than the RE-7's.

MrShelley's guide shows the basics. Feel free to ask any questions you might still have after reading through it. I have done three trucks, my '70 and two friends '65-'66s, exactly like this with excellent results.

MrShelley's was the one I had in my head, such a great write-up.

I've been very diligent about pics this time around and will gladly put something together when it's all said and done. I am doing an interim bag setup to replace the coils for now just to get my truck to ride well since my shocks and coils are toast.

Can't go wrong with Slams either way. Early Classic and Classic Performance both offer bolt-on full length bars. I like the ECE bar for a few reasons: it's black vs CPP's silver, adjustable mount for different ride heights, and their customer service trounces CPP's, in my experience...

Probably, especially if using a 1.5-2" block, which I would recommend if you're wanting 5" or more drop. I would measure before buying- don't wanna destroy your shocks, or mounts, or both.

Track bar, relocators definitely, strongly urge blocks as well.

I have Dom 2600s on my truck- had to get them when there was a shortage of Slams a while back. They are tough. Downsides are that they balloon a bit, more than Slams but less than 'Stones. The ride is also softer than the slams, which are very stiff.

Lotsa guys run the 2500s, but I was already drilled for the 2600 spacing, which is slightly different. Using the smaller bag would allow more pressure at a given height, which means better ride (to a point).

Re: Bags in place of coils ? 68 Burban. What Bags

So by going with a 1.5" block that will allow me to run more pressure. Which should give me a better ride ?

How will the pinon angel be affected ?

Thanks for all the help.

Yes, and allow for a longer shock. 1.5" block max with 15" wheels, 2" on anything bigger- this keeps you from running the risk of dragging the arms if you get a flat tire.

Pinion angle will be less affected using the block, as you are not rotating the trailing arms 'up' as far. Guys have been flipping the brackets on the trailing arm crossmember to help correct this as well.

Looking at the original question- I would stick to the 2600lb bags for a burb, especially if planning to tow.

sorry to jump in here but when you say "blocks" do you mean lowering blocks between the trailing arm and the axle? Secondly, assuming i use shock relocators and adjustable trac bar, do i use stock height shocks or lowering shocks? When do you use a lowering shock versus OE height?

Yep, lowering blocks. Relocators might buy you enough room for stock length shocks- I would double check measurements before buying. Lowering shocks have a shorter stroke, and would be used in the case you weren't relocating shock mounts. They also tend to have a little stiffer valving which is a preference thing.

A combo that I know for sure works with bags is 2" lowering blocks, relocation kit, and Monroe 32301s. Again, I trust me, but I don't trust everything I read on the internet, so I would double check your measurements before buying.

Monroe has a catalog that breaks down every shock they make by part number, extended and compressed length, mounting style, and product line. The blue Monroes are what ships with many Air Ride Technologies and Porterbuilt Street Rods kits, so I figure they're good enough for my junk...

Re: Bags in place of coils ? 68 Burban. What Bags

this might sound strange or a newb question but here goes, say i get dom 2600 bags front and rear, how much lower will they make the truck, i know it will depend on the pressure in the bag but at an average ride height how much lower would it be? and what would an average pressure be?
