Re: Elbow deep in my 66 - finally doin it!

Making some progress; rear is together, starting on front tonight. Trailing arms from ECE awesome! Came with all new hardware; only thing had to do was make holes a little bigger for e-brake cables!

More pics coming....

thanks for checking it out,

Re: Elbow deep in my 66 - finally doin it!

More Pics, need to get a different brake line T for the rear; Can't wait to drive it with the new gears and locker!!!

Not going to waste time bleeding the brakes now though, will be changing everything out in front...

This is as low as I can go without making some custom bag mounts; may be in the near future, but not before car show in May...

more pics to come!!

thanks for looking, WAGZ

Re: Elbow deep in my 66 - finally doin it!

Had a heck of a time finding fittings I needed locally to connect the new stainless 71 lines on the rear to the existing truck rear brake line...

ending up going to 5 different stores to find what I needed. Carquest ended up having them, of course 1 @ one store and another in a different town.

I wan't going to bleed the rear brakes since I was going to be tearing the front apart this weekend anyway, but ended up bleeding them and going around the neighborhood a few time.

I have a video of my first double legger burnout in the truck (neighbor didn't appreciate it and threatened to call the cops on me... no more burnouts in the development! but it was bad ass). With no weight on the rear and the locker it spun right around... tried posting video on here, but didn't cooperate.

check it out here:
More pics to come, starting on tearing front apart tonight.

Re: Elbow deep in my 66 - finally doin it!

Some pics of the beginning of the reassembly.... not quite going as quick as I thought it would, but want to do it right the first time... I have a week to get it done so may be slow progress; is a learing process as I am going.

Thanks to my Dad and son Scotty for their help.....

couldn't figure out why I didn't have the clearance I needed for the steering arms/ all are transplants from my donor 71/ then I realized I have the upper A arms in reversed..... Oh well, like I said, a learning process....

enjoy these so far... notice Captain Fabs power steering bracket/ can't really see, but his handy dandy template is laying in the front in the one pic; and the steering coupler is also from him. Thanks again John.

NEED some help... I corrected the mistake I made on the upper A arms; now I am thinking I have the center link in backwards (flipped) also...

comparing to the original 66 center link, i have it in wrong.

can anyone look and let me know ASAP...???

I am going to post on main message board too,

thanks in advance,

Re: Elbow deep in my 66 - finally doin it!

Got her back on all 4s last night; have more to do, but couldn't wait to get down and see how low it would go with the dropped spindles and bag plates. Will probably be going with cupped bottom arms to get lower, will partially crush my beer cans now but I want to flatten them!!!!!

Just a note to anyone doing this with the new parts like I did; you will need some big metric sockets for A arm shafts! 35 mm and 42 mm... wish they would've told me that before I ordered them...

More pictures coming! taking 1/2 day tomm so should have more progress/pics.

Thanks for looking,

WAGZ
