My wife went through something awhile back. Terroristic threatening and the whole 9 yards. If no one is beaten up or shot the police don't seem to have time for you. Took 3 and a half months just to get the police report. No offense to any cops on here but some don't care. The detective we got didn't.

As for the truck. Look at it as a new project. Its still a really sweet ride with lots of cool mods. With a little work it'd make a great daily driver. One you wouldn't have to freak out over parking lot dings or the like. Good luck with your insurace company.

No sir, the thief wasn't a board member but if it weren't for a board member i probably wouldn't have found him. He has been impounded for over a month and i never received word from anyone. I had to make all of the phone calls to police and the insurance company. The ins. cmp. said they knew the truck was recovered but didn't know where it was located.

Tough call, but i think with some new ideas like you said (cleaning) it will be a even better truck and boy what stories you'll have about killer. I hope the insurance works with you, it seems they may dictate your decision because usually finances do that. I've been robbed, it is a violation feeling no doubt about it. It truely makes you understanding of how one could do that even harder to understand, but as we all know some people don't give a blank. I can't beleive it was found. What other crimes did this man commit to get the police to find him. I would find it hard to belevie the police were still searching high and low for killer. Again good luck from the south part of the state.

i agree, but the insurance company has got to com e off their high horse because we're not even close on a $ figure. They're supposed to be going to inspect him now that i advised them where he is so we'll see!

have you thought about getting an independent adjuster? I don't know if it works for auto insurance, but it helped my church out of a jamb once with a property claim. They go to bat for you (for a fee of course).

So I'm assuming the insurance company already gave you money for Killer, back shortly after it was stolen? But now that it is found, you have the option of buying it back from the insurance (for too much do the damage/abuse that the theif inflicted)....correct?

Man, I've been following your build only to see you got jacked and then found your truck. That sucks man. At least you found it. You did some great work on that truck...I hope they burn that guy really good that did it. Keep your head up man, it's too late to turn back now. Just make it better!

a boardmember who was familiar with the build up heard that a ring had been busted up. One of the vehichles snded like it might have been killer. he simply put the word out to me and i did some checking, which turns out it was a great lead. That's basically how it went down, but there was no acquaintance or nothing like that. Make sense?

I semi know the feeling. My 'RestoRod' project was stolen about a year after I bought it (1987). I was just a young gun out of high school working & taking night classes @ the local community college. I had done the window tint, sport bumpers, 6-lug ralleys w/245-60 & 275-60 BFG's, stereo, 88-98 seat, & a mid 70's Camaro steering wheel. It was a cool little truck & my only means of transport.

It was stolen from my parents house while I was house sitting & keeping an eye on my younger brother. With only liability insurance, it hurt me baaaaaad. I had to drop my classes (that were already paid for) because I had no way of getting there after work & even had to walk/ride a bike just to get to work (about 15miles away). I picked up a little 76 camaro & drove the wheels off of it for the next year & one day while @ work I get the call from a police detective saying they have the truck.

It was driven into the pound w/one flat tire, trans stuck in 1st, tailgate had a huge dent in it, seat replaced w/a POS stocker, steering wheel was replaced w/a wooden Grant, stereo was broken, & there was a crappy primer-grey paint job that covered every square inch except the glass & head/tail lights (even those had overspray). It cost me $375 to get my own truck out of the pound (towing & storage fees ) which was a bunch of BS.

So I paid the money & decided since I was fixing it up a little @ a time before being taken, I could go a little further now that I had another car. It's been taken down to bare steel, everythings been rebuilt, replaced, upgraded, customized & then ......... nothing. Been sitting almost 15yrs now as life has had its way w/me but it's been in a climate controlled garage the whole time & will hit the streets soon enough even better than planned (C4 front suspension & 4l80e OD trans behind the BBC).

I say treat Killer like a family member. It's not his fault. Clean him up and make him better than before!

My 61 was at a shop that went under while I was serving in the Air Force and I was lucky to get it back (thanks to my Dad). I was out the $3000 I had sent them (that was a lot of money for an E1 in 1995) and most of the parts... Now she's staying for keeps.

Last I heard Killer was going to prob be brought back to driver status. I can't say I would want to invest a bunch financially only for the same thing to possibly happen again.

Battle scarred or not..... it's still got the makings of a great truck.
