Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

Very nice! The only thing that I would change is to replace the BBC with a 5.9 cummins. Your mileage would be easily doubled. Oh well, it is still a very nice truck! I can't wait to see it painted.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

Cant wait to see the pics when you are finished. I am currently gathering my budget to build a crew cab out of my 71 K20, so picks of a finished version including a lift kit like I plan will help my wife see what it will look like....which of course will help my budget crisis significantly! I plan to do the same rear doors like you did that have the radiused upper corner, so it looks original. As a body/paint guy myself, I have great respect for anyone that takes on a project like this! Unfortunately, I have to start from the beginning!

They are going to shoot the white grill tomorrow, the hoops and the headlight bezels are going to be blue.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

I am trying to decide whether I should chrome the grill hoops and headlight bezels or use the painted ones. I know which way is cheaper.

Man that truck is going to be awesome! I say go with chrome, it'll just help set it off.

Looking good. I think chrome would look better but I don't think blue would look bad.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

I was going to chrome mine but just found a set of nice NOS hoops. I think that the grille hoops and headlight bezels should match the hood and eyebrow trim instead of the bumper. If it was all chromed then it would look very sweeet.

I have a nice steel set for sale now if needed.

The color is from a Dodge truck, like a medium blue.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!

Just spent 2hrs going through the build very nice job! Glad you kept the bed 8ft! Kevin your awesome! I only would change two things: hidden fuel door in tail light and some thing diff on the rear quater windows, but thats just my taste! Again awesome job and your other rides look pretty darn good too. On the milage you can easily get another 5-8mpg out of it by bumping up the compression and letting it breath by a good port and polish on the heads and a good set of headers. The power gains will be real nice too
