Re: Senior Project Build
I am a recent converted old tech guy...I couldn't be more excited about the 5.3 swap I am about to embark on for my DD 70. I just got the motor mounts last month and am about to buy an LS1 intake manifold Monday. Gotta start collecting parts if I am going to get this done this summer!!!

Re: Senior Project Build
Awesome Kelly, thats cool. What mounts are you using? And what are you using for exhaust? Stock mani's or headers?

Re: Senior Project Build
I got the ECE mounts as a partial trade for my 454 long block. The plan is to get the necessary parts over the next few months. I am buying an LS1 [Z28] intake tomorrow from a guy on LS1Tech.
I am probably going with a set of Corvette manifolds....I am pretty much done with headers after this motor gets sold. This next motor will be a 5.3/4L60E with a cam change [not sure which one yet], the car manifold/injectors/rails and dual exhaust with either 50 or 60 series flowmasters. For the stepside [hopefully next year] I plan to jump off the porch with a 6.0/4L80E/supercarger or an LS3 depending on how the cash flow is going. Selling the BB was a huge step for me....of all the GM's I have had in the past this was the only Chevy BB I have ever owned. But with the newer motors, I'll get better MPG and much more reliability and NO CARBS!

Re: Senior Project Build
Cool. Make an LS3, like I did. Use a LQ4 block and add L92 heads. That sounds like a great plan, and I am excited to see it moving forward.

Re: Senior Project Build
Not a bad idea. I am watching what you do for sure. Mine will probably be done next year [the LS3 anyway], but I hope to get the 5.3 in this year.

Re: Senior Project Build
Yeah, I found a company that has all different types of ls motors that come like this, but the one i'm looking at is a low mile lq4 that comes with a stand alone stock computer and wiring with a/c compressor, power steering pump, and cable throttle all for 2300$ ready to go. Can't say where though

Re: Senior Project Build
Everything is settled in, and I love the look. Only thing is, the motor mount adapters aren't quite lined up with the stock holes, so I guess it all has to come back out for some drilling
