Personally, the whole straw thing does it for me, which is why I always enjoy Marks thread on his truck, which constantly evolves.

May have to look out for some of them.

I have a pair of Blue Dots for my new tail light lenses that still need fitting when I get to that on my truck.

Thanks guys, the lights were installed by the original owner of my dads car back in the late 70's. They were mounted under the dash so when they turn on in the night the hole floor had a purple glow, ( oohh fancy!). And rian I also really admire the work that mark has done to his interior, oh and I also plan on using blue dots in my taillights as well

Thanks rusty.

Today I focused on my hood plane, I pulled it off to find the part number on the underside. It shows to be off of a 53 Oldsmobile. I also noticed that there is a copper plating under the chrome, maybe part of the process of chrome plating?

Then I sandblasted it and did lots of sanding. It's now ready for paint

good quality chrome work uses copper then nickel and then chrome.

are you going to prime it to fill in the pits before you paint it ..

Thanks tj, I look forward to an update on ol' two-tone.

Here's is the plane now in primer. I still need a few more coats with light sanding in between but it looks pretty good.

So I thought "why the heck not?". The light will come on with the headlights and the plane had a little groove on the bottom side so the wire can be hidden

Thanks Ben. it's not actually that big, just the angle the pic was taken at and its not bolted down makes it look bigger.
Here is what it looks like on the truck

Looking good buddy! Reminds me of my old setup. 57 bel air hood ornament with turn signal tail fins on the sides. Sticking with that setup when my truck is done for sure. lol

Come summer holidays, I am tempted to bring you a truck for a winter project.

Thanks tj, that looks good on your truck. The signal lights look just like the originals on my dads satellite

Loving this thread man, excellent work so far. My truck finally has the cab off and a friend is helping with the body work as I am not overly skilled with a welder. But I know what you mean with finding rust everywhere. That is what happened with mine and I basically have an all new floor now when it will be done.

Thanks, there was a time I was considering buying a better cab but I just started to attack it with a grinder and welder and decided to do it myself instead. That is the thing about rust, the deeper you dig the more you find

Good work on the hood ornament so far.

It will always make you smile seeing it up front.

Of course I do like them a lot, so I am a bit biased.

Oh do I know all about this. It was my grandpas truck for me that is about the only reason I did not try to find a better cab.
