Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Friday I bought these cheapo locking (?) cases from Harbor Freight. We had company over the weekend.

So, today I went to the hardware store and bought some latches. I attached them so I could open 'em up while they
are locked in place (after I unlock the latches), and so they'd be easily removeable.

Just a "need sometimes" deal. And a, "keep honest folks honest" while parked for lunch or something and out of
the line-of-sight from RAT for a little while.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Kind of cool cases, to small for a tool box but bet they can hold a few things. What is the plan for them Mag, special tools or something. I am always a bit scared so I put big tool boxs in mine but mostly end up being for my friends trucks that break down.

Mud,

The idea was that I set them up so I can take them in and out. But, I'll probably leave them in 90% of the time. One can easily handle a small ditty bag for bathroom-oriented stuff,
probably including a weekend "emergency kit" of duds and toiletries in case the Boss throws me out, or I find myself invited for a couple of extra days at a bro's place.

The other one will include a set of wrenches and screwdrivers, various 1/2 inch drive stuff to get the wheels off, plug wrench and an extra HDMI module, Windex and a quart of oil and a
couple of rags in a Zip Loc bag...And maybe the add of the universal tool kit; duct tape, vice-grips, and a small can of WD-40.

Also, I have one of those lever/spring dividers that fits nicely to the rear of the bags. It's kind-of a pole with rubber feet that stretch across the bed so that a cooler, chairs, etc. will stay
close to the cab instead of sliding around, while driving and bouncing around on the crappy roads around here.

Check out the pic.

The cases were too much $$$ for what they are. But I figure that if something *doesn't* get ripped off, the $62 was a decent $pend. I've got another $25
in the latches and glue, although I bought three sets and only needed two. And I still have glue left over. I found the rubber pads that are affixed to
the bottom of the cases inside the cases. So, I used them to get decent height so that the tops would swing without hitting the floor of the bed.

Also, I put hidden, small chunks of velcro on each of the handles so they wouldn't flop around and sound like a popcorn machine while I was driving.

Where I pierced the cases to push the spring-loaded pins through, I glued appropriate sized washers so the pins would "ride" on metal and not on the
flimsy case material.

Silly personal mod. I've spent eighty bucks on worse things in my life.
But I ain't talkin. That was then. This is now.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Not as much as I wanted to! *And I really wanted to paint some today!!!

I bought some Rustoleum primer and flat black to spray on the driver's side floor boards and I picked up my newly rebuilt carburetor. I also got a lot of advice from the garage owner and it looks like I might be replacing all the hard fuel lines.....

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Loaded Sprout onto a truck to go to its new owner outside of Denver, CO. Well, technically my wife watched the truck driver load it as I had to be out of town this week. The new owner bought it sight unseen, so I hope he's happy with it when it arrives! A little sad (as I always am when something sells), but one step closer to moving to our new home in Kentucky and buying my next project!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Pulled the radiator and dropper it off at culpeppers.

Pulled the heater core, heater box and interior air box. They are both rusted pretty badly. Not sure what I am going to do with them. To bad Gm didnt think to pain the inside of th eboxes so they would not rust from the inside out.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Changed out the seat belts, upgraded the driver and passenger belt to a newer Shoulder belt and added a lap belt for the person in the middle.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Got my crotch cooler doors re-installed, and found a line on a working carb, and someone who can rebuild my ailing quadrajet.
Found a solution to my suspension issue, and daydreamed about body work and paint.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Got new plugs and made sure they had the correct gap. Installed them and it still wont start. Though it seemed to try harder than it has since it stopped working. I'm still completely baffled as to why it wont run anymore.
