Cajun-

Looking good. Did you make the tail light brackets? They look like they were machined. Very slick.

What mirrors are those? They look similar to some I was looking at from Socal speed shop.

Thanks
Marc

the tail light brackets I made from some 1/8 aluminum. Just cut them on a bandsaw and filed. then drilled some holes and sanded them with a DA with 80 then 180 grit.

the mirrors you saw are probably the same if not very similar. I dont remember where I got them. I got the mirrors and the pedal from the same supplier.

the kit came from keisler. It was hard and nerve racking to install as the whole trans has to be taken apart and the main shift rail has to be to cut and drilled. It is harden steel and took an $80 drill bit to drill it.

Fantastic build, Cajundragger!

Do you by chance have pics of your bed build? The tailgate/rear pan setup is really slick.

Re: so lets build a truck/my '52 chevy

here you go

should start from the beginning. Its stock dimensions, except the bedsides are stretched 2" straight up. The tailgate is left stock length to keep proportions. then I made a hidden hinges using strut bushings and crush sleeves.

Re: so lets build a truck/my '52 chevy

Very nice, thanks for the detail! I wouldn't have noticed that the bedsides were higher. I think it flows with the body lines better.

The guy I bought my truck from included some custom bedsides fabbed up from 10 ga. steel, and tubing welded onto the top. They look a lot like yours.

It looks like your tailgate hinges are on the inside? That's a nice touch.

I just realized I said 'hinges' when I really meant 'chains'. Are you using the chains to latch the tailgate like they did stock?

Also, as an engineer, I must say that's got to be one of the best ways to study for a math test that I've seen! The custom touches really add up.

no I have these push locks from pros pick.

yeah the bed was confusing to keep it all working right. I also didnt want any wheel tubs so that was hard to get all that correct as well.

Re: so lets build a truck/my '52 chevy

my buddy Jeff got me some pics of the truck from the show we went to since I forgot my camera. I got some striping done while I was there, pictures dont even begin to do them justice as they dont pick up the colors at all. The one on the tailgate is actually 3 colors.

hey grim, if any of these pics seems photoshopable let me know which ones and pm your email address and I can email them if you want to play with the wheels.
