Re: Our new 69C10 project

Light olive metallic/white, its the stock color with clear coats. it will have the saddle interior, I am just trying to decide on the 69 or 72 door panel style. Any thoughts guys?

i like the steel panels, they screw in instead of snap in, and you can still get the cool vinyl covers for em.

Re: Our new 69C10 project

Wow its really looking great. I like the soundproofing! Especially the cheap labor. My sons idea of helping me is a plastic hammer and a plastic saw. Unfortunatally I cant let him get too close now with all the paint done.

Re: Our new 69C10 project

My oldest, hit my 65 mustang convertible with a not so plastic hammer when he was 3 or 4, I had done a similar resto on that. After that I decided to sell it and pave the driveway. I was too nervous having it around. Now he is a great helper and has the passion for perfection. A bit like me he`s a little OCD sometimes. I`m sure when yours are older they will be great help too.

Yes Im sure mine will be a great helper one day. He wants to learn it all already. I just hope theres enough future projects to pass on the knowledge.

Hey Scott Just found your build. Wow that's crappy..I mean ..You and the boys are making the rest of us look bad.... I have to go out and polish the turd I have to get it to look 1/2 that nice. Looks better than new..I know GM never put any serious time in to these trucks, slapped together and out the door....... I would recommend undercoat.. I used Tinted UPOL urethane. it comes out darker than the paint but is good protection under rockers and wheel wells. Way to go boys....and Dad.....Can't wait to see the new 3 car garage for these great looking trucks.....Ed.

Re: Our new 69C10 project

I just came across this thread as well. LOVE the work you and your boys are doing! I picked up a 70 C10 that was the same original color, and you've already helped me decide to stick with it when I get to the paint stage. I won't be doing the level of restore that you are (yet) because I don't have the shop space (again, YET!) but hopefully one day I'll have it looking half that nice!!! I'll definitely be following your progress, and if you have good pieces that you don't reuse let me know. I might need some things for my 70... Keep up the great work!

Re: Our new 69C10 project

Tomahawk30, just let me know what you might be needing, I`m gearing up for the next swap meet, I have three doors, three fenders, a spare cab, complete heater boxes, all the pedals for an automatic, extra glass, cowl, hood and the list goes on, belts in saddle, door panels & visiors for a 72, control arms... I am trying to list them here for sale, but some are too much to ship. Its turning out great and with the help of my boys going smoother and faster than I expected. Thanks for the comments

A little more progress

Made a little more progress on the cab, finished converting the doors to the 69 C10 type, most of the glass installed, still rebuilding the vent windows but we should be done as soon as our shipment from GMC Pauls arrives, installed the Lokar pedals and throttle cable and started on system hook-up for the engine. installed the gas tank and lines and bench bled the master. Enjoy the pics

Hey Scott, put me inline for the visors if they are not gone already. What glass to you have and what year? I may be interested in that too. I am out of town till Friday. See ya.
