my top choices are

satin black
satin blue
dark factory color green (gloss)
rootbeer brown color (gloss)

so as you can see...my color choices are all over the place
The grill doesn't matter to me because I like both styles. As far as color... satin black has been over done, forget it. I've never been a fan of the dark green unless its on a british sports car and has white racing stripes. Rootbeer? I know it's kind of making a come back but I think it just looks like an old persons car color. My grandma had a huge delta 88 that was brown. Tha satin blue above looked pretty good, but back on page 2 you have a pic of the SPID and the inside of the glove box looks like a brighter blue that I think would also look good and not as common. Or you could try the 1969 511 turquoise poly, but I'm somewhat biased on that.

My 02 silverado looked pitch black to me but it wa supposed to be a deep rootbeer brown. Looked great in the sun with the ghost flames.

Jonathan,
Congrats on the new baby!! Excellent build thread! There is a white cab in the background that looks familiar...lol! Are we still good to pick up more parts this saturday around 8 again? If not, let me know! I am also going to Top Banana to pick up some doors!

Congrats on the new addition to your family. I think the 67/68 front is the best looking. as far as color goes I like earth tones. satin black is always cool too.

Jonathan - I notice that your post count is taking a dive here lately, and judging by the time of you last post here you might be missing out on some sleep?

I really miss those days. Not!

Hope all is going with with you guys.

Thanks. Yes, I pop on here when I can, but between caring for the wife, helping with the baby, watching my two other girls, and trying to make a living/make doctor appts/do all the shopping/cleaning....I am busy

Add in that I have sold a lot of parts on craigslist recently and people have come to pick up the parts.....
and...
Add to that I'm spending a TON of time watching Irene as I have a lot of family in the direct path (and I'm very curious about major weather events) and it adds up to little sleep and little time on the board...

Called Glenn about potentially working on the truck tomorrow night. If not it'll be next week (pending what Irene does around here)

Well, made it through the storm. Picked up an nos drivers side handle from KrazyRay to match the very nice passenger one (hate the repops with plastic parts in them) and have sold a bunch of parts recently to be able to afford the rest of the 67 front end parts. Will try to pick those up from Top banana next week.

just power out for a day and a lot of large limbs hit the house and covered the yard with leaves....made it through relatively unscathed....

but there were a ton of trees down in my neighborhood. Chain saws all day every day since the storm

Wow,
Three girls, a down Wife and Irene!! Here I was complaining about a little Rain we had yesterday. I just wanted to say good luck when all those girls are Teenagers. If I were you I would buy a Sawd Off Savage 12 Guage with a pistol grip to keep the boys away. I had two girls and they caused me to go bald. Hope things get back to normal for you soon and look forward to seeing more pictures of your project.

Re: Rebuild on a shoestring.....continued

Power finally back on at the body shop where the truck is. Glenn called me tonight to let me know he's going to work on the truck saturday....said he'd finish up the patch panels. I plan to help him but can't be there the entire day. Pretty awesome that he's planning to work on it even if I'm not there

Congratulations on the new baby and thanks for the help with my thread! I just read through your thread and i'm definitely subscribing due to the "shoe string budget". The army is a steady paycheck but a small one. lol. I am biased on this, but GO WITH THE 67 FRONT CLIP! hope all is well for you and the family.

Re: Rebuild on a shoestring.....continued

well, sorry but pictures will have to wait. Wife got home a while ago but I can't find my cord to transfer the pics.

Glenn got the passenger side rocker welded up and ground down nicely. Got the cab supports welded on the passenger side. Also made a patch for the passenger cab corner and welded/ground that. When I had to leave he was working on the inner and outer rocker on the passenger side.

I got the original driver's door off (you'll see why I'm replacing it in the pictures) and got all the guts out of it (to sell )

I am using my bead blasted parts for the guts of the door. Painted them with a satin black paint to protect them.

Removed the old and installed new window channel weatherstrip in the driver's vent window (nice used one I will be installing)

Waited to install everything in the passenger door because there's some rust spots to patch and I don't want the glass ruined during the welding process.

Re: Rebuild on a shoestring.....continued

Also think I decided on the paint today. I really want to do a Faux-tina paint job and this just seems like the right project (cheap so I won't lose money when I sell it later because I don't/won't have a lot invested)

I really like the way the steering wheel I got looks with the black primer showing through the factory light blue color....

The truck was more of an aqua but I like the light blue better so I'll be using that. Thinking of spraying primer, then black paint, then the blue....will sand through the blue in areas where the sun would normally wear down the paint to create the patina effect (faux-tina)
