It had a Spicer rear gear because of a shortage of dually rear ends that model year. I had the rear single leaf helper spring on all the 1 tons replaced with a commercial rated spring set. The 77 had a 6-leaf set and all the others a 5 leaf set.

Both of these these wreckers have 19.5" wheels. I bet they would look good chromed or with simulators...

Na, its got a 360 in her. Cummins would have been cool, but the gasser will suffice... for now Maybe i'll throw the running gear under a 1 ton 67-72 someday, ohh the possibilities.

Yeah, the old 360 will do the trick just fine. Is that a MCUCV D30 Military Truck or Blazer in the backdrop?

Actually there are two m1009 cucv Blazers, and a m1008 cucv 1 1/4 ton truck, in the background. I own one of the blazers, (the near one you can see), in the middle is the gray 1 1/4 ton m1008, which is actually owned by my fire department, im just doing some work to it, and on the other side is my brothers m1009 blazer.

Joesjunk, no problem. What are your plans with the cab off that truck? I still hate to see one of the fleet getting away from you though

Chris H, Looks like another good score. What are your plans with it?

I have got most of the turbo stuff in over the last few days for the Diesel for my '67 C-30. I also put a new set of tires on it today, as well as 4 new rear tires on my '69 Car Hauler. I unbolted the flatbed this evening, but I ran out of daylight to take it off.

On top of that, I have began getting up parts to build a new engine for my '69 Car Hauler. The old 396 is getting tired. I have got a busy spring ahead of me!!

Well, my wife asked me that same question last night! I think I am just going to put some exhaust on it and use it as a work truck this summer. I have some dirt work to do at my house, and a few loads of gravel for family members too. Maybe a few swap meet trips and help friends move heavy stuff? No real "improvement" plans, just use it like a truck! I haven't had much of a chance to play with it yet, hopefully this weekend.

I do have some plans for the 72 C30 in my avatar. I am getting ready to put a 72 402BB/TH400/Doug Nash Overdrive in place of the 250 wheezer with 4 speed. Rear end will get changed from the Eaton HO72 5.14 to a 14 bolt FF dually axle with 4.10 gears and a big sway bar. I am going to try to keep the original black paint on the cab/doors, and try to paint a longhorn bed to match? I just want to have a good reliable cruising pseudo work truck that I can enjoy driving, and put to work as a trailer puller when the need arises. I am fighting the urge to pull the cab/front clip to paint the chassis, but it would make my drivetrain swap much easier!

Joesjunk, that dually you are selling looks real nice! You make "body swap" sound like such a casual term! Since you have done a few of these that have turned out very nice, maybe you could post a FAQ with tips and tricks?

I second the cab swap FAQ Joe!

That sounds good Chris. That old flatbed couldn't be happier to be back in srevice.

As far as your other truck, do you have already have a good Longhorn bed to use?

The 1-ton Club is online!!

Well, guys, I've been thinking about it since TX Firefighter mentioned the 1 ton club, and I have decided to build us a site dedicated to 1 tons. I will have to build it up a little along to due to my already busy schedule, but this is something that I think will be of interest to a lot of people. Anyone that wants to help with it is welcomed, and as time goes by I will calling on members for pictures of certain year model 1 tons every so often. I looked around on the web, and I could not find a site dedicated to just 1 tons, so I think is is overdue. The domain address is www.1-ton-club.com

you know this is great! having started this thread back on 11-09-2004, 05:55 PM , it has only been off the front page here 1 time! i never imagined it would be this popular. it is the best sorce for 1 ton pics on the board now. it keeps on growing and growing....67_c-30 you have been the back bone to this thread. it has had many people posting. all have been great! but, you have found more and more pics for it. i thank you for that! you have a great idea here to start the new "1 ton club" & web site. i do belive that this will be a great sucess, and should add alot to the truck cause in general. i do hope that you will link back to this website some how so everyone can find your site. i look forward to it!...............joe i would love to have the 1 ton gmc that you have for sale. bad timing for me though as i'm building a garage and rebuilding my gmc's engine now. anyway again thank's to everyone that has and will be posting to this thread. let's keep this thing going strong!
