Also, there was never a true dually with a bed made prior to 73 either. All the earlier dually trucks were cab and chassis, which means they came with no bed.
I asked this question in a post about longhorns a while ago and never got a answer. About 15 years agoa local car lot had a 71 or 72 C30 on the lot I stoped to look at a 67 El Camino they had and seen the C30. It had a longhorn bed I had never seen the extra lenth added to a bed like that and thought the seam looked funny. I also remember that the bed floor was smooth at the very front (8 inches maybe) to match the floor to the lengthened bed sides. It also had really wide wheel house's in the bed to clear the dually tires. So are you saying that someone converted this C30 dually by putting a longhorn bed on it and widening the wheel houses. I never seen one like it but thought it was factory but I'm really confused now. Has anyone ever seen a set of those wide inner fenders. I use to have a catalog for 67-72 truck parts from a place in Virginia something ville wythville maybe I think it was Wentz or Wentzel truck parts. They had fiberglass inner fender that was wider than stock like the steel ones I seen. Does anyone know if they are still available.

Neither of my two duallys, a 68 and a 72, has rear shock absorbers or any sign of them ever being there.
I do believe rear shocks were an option. Of the 4 duallys I have, 3 have rear shocks (shown as an option) and one doesn't. The one that doesn't, has no brackets to even mount shocks to.

joe that thing is very cool......it may not look like the black one but it has to be kinda rare as far as 1 tons. those are some great options for a truck like that to have. i guess someone wanted to be able to do work and be comfortable too!.......Tx Firefighter the place you are refering to is called WENTZ MOTOR CO. they are in Danville Va. there web address is {www.chevypickupparts.com} i hope that helps out. the website is not as good as their catalouge is. i met them last year in carlisle at the truck nats. nice people. joe line them boys up one day and take some group shots. that is a 1 of a kind group to say the least..........thanks guys!

I figured shocks listed on VIN-spec meant Upgaded or HD.Like rear springs, etc.I`ve seen shocks listed on 1/2 & 3/4s.

Here are a few pics of my 1 ton trucks. The first is my of my '69 Car Hauler. It is powered by a 396 with 4 speed tranny backed by a Dana 70 out of a later model Ford...I know, I know, I am shamed. The other is of my '67 C-30 that I am going to make into a Dually using a regular fleetside bed and modified stepside fenders. I have a rolled 3/4 ton 4X4 Suburban with a Diesel that I am planning on using as the drivetrain. The Suburban has low miles, and runs great. I am still undecided if I want to leave it a C-30 or modify the Suburban frame, make a K-30.

Thanks Joe. Your fleet of 1 tons is very impressive. I love that black flatbed. I eventually want to get some sheet metal and reshape the rear wheel well opening to a rounder opening more like the front. I bought my truck several years ago, and I have rebuilt the engine, redone the interior, put the rearend in, swapped over 16" 1-peice wheels, and had it painted. I've got a custom front push bumper in the works for it now. I use this almost everyday, and it usually quite a conversation piece. I friend of mine dubbed it "Brutus" years ago, and the name kinda stuck.

7gmc2, It looks black, but its actually dark green. That truck is currently for sale in Gainesville, GA. They are asking 15,900 for it. It is an extended 3-door cab, like the new trucks have!, shortened ribbed suburban roof, visor, custom hard bed cover, 454CI, B&M Blower, PS, PDB, Tilt, Vintage heat/air, custom alloy wheels, digital dash, stereo, custom interior. Its a pretty sweet truck, although, I personally prefer the regular cabs myself.

Joe, Does any of your (or anybody else, for that matter) have 17.5" one piece wheels? My '67 has them, and since they are 1 piece, and since I can get tires for this, I am thinking of having them chromed, and use the lug covers/center caps from a set of simulators. I think the extra 1.5" dia wheel would give the truck a shorter look with a good stance. Has anybody done this?

A few for sale, if you're in the market!!

Here's a truck I considered before I bought my '67. I just really, really wanted a '67. If anyone is truly interested in this truck, email me for contact to the owners.

It is a 292/ 4 speed truck in Tennessee. Running, needs brake work. Asking $800.00

Thanks 7gmc2. I love these old trucks, and these are pics I have found trying to get ideas for mine. I actually don't know anything about any of them except the '70 green ext cab, '68 blue flatbed, and the '69 white flatbed. The rest are random pics from the net. I agree with you about the primered 4 door, I'm not crazy about it. That's truck bed turned sideways and upside down on the the green and black one. I looked long and hard at the red '69, and I finally figured out what looks odd about it. I thought at first the lower molding was giving it a different look, but after closer examination, I realized that whoever built this truck must have used the the rear sections of opposite side step side fenders, and welded them together to acheive the look. Notice how much wider the front part of the fender is than all the others posted. Also, if you look close you can see it taper down on the top edge on both ends. Regular stepside fenders only taper down on the rear.

As of now, my plan is to go with regular stepside fender, and profile it to look like the pearl white '69. I don't want mine lowered. I like the stance of the black one with new model bed. I think I am going to have my 17.5" rims chromed, and used just the center caps off of a set of simlulators. I want to run 245/75 R17.5 tires. I think this will give the truck a somewhat shorter, stockier look. As I mentioned before, I am going to use a Diesel out of a wrecked Suburban I have. I have a mint pair of '72 Cheyenne door panels, a '72 tilt column, and a very low mileage uncracked '67 steering wheel with a NOS horn cap that I have been saving for the right project. The only thing I still can't decide is if I want make it a 4WD. I probably won't, but man it would nice! I found a '65 3/4 ton 4WD today that I think it a NAMCO conversion. That would give me all the stuff to do the 4WD conversion. decisions, decisions.

once again you have come through with some great pics 67_c-30!!! i love the looks of some of these trucks. i think your truck will be fine without the 4-wd. it will be great when finished. you will need to post it here when done. line them up like joes junk and take a group shot! i wonder how some of these new pics of these trucks were made? it is amazing how well some of these old body conversions have held up over the years. the blue 4 door with the doors faceing the opposite direction is a strange one to say the least! i can't figure why someone made that truck in that configuration? which direction is the rear seat faceing? must suit a special need i guess....the longhorne is neat. don't think it is original though.i wonder how much he sold that one for? the red one is a nice blend of old and new. i'll count the burb just cause it is a duel wheel converion! that is heavy duty! the c-40 is a stretch. i see one very similiar almost every day on my sales route! anyway 67_c-30 thanks again and keep'm coming..........
