Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck

It is boiling the fuel after the pump... our new crappy gas with boil at 90 degrees .. fuel temp was 166 ... moving a coolant line and re-routing a fuel line

Does any one know the caster and camber settings for a Dropmember at ride height?

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck

5th is overdrive and 6th is a DEEP overdrive in that tranny correct? Seems to me you are over cammed. Looks like the RPM range for that cam STARTS at 2500 RPM and tops out at 6400. 2500 RPMS in that tranny in 5th gear is going how fast? I have a 383 stroker in my Impala with a 670 cfm carb and a more moderate cam that starts around 1500 RPM's. It only dynos at 394 H.P. but makes 454 ft. lbs of torque. For ****s and grins bring it up to about 4500 RPM in 4th and shift into 5th and see if it will pull then. I just think it is set up for too high of an RPM range. Also, what is the carb? Is the timing right?

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck

sounds like it may not have enough gear and a little too much cam for the 327, a 383 or 400 with a little less cam or more gear might help, something with lower end torque. Just my opinion.

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck

That camshaft with the little cubes makes it for higher RPM then advertised. Smaller cam, and more gear with that size rear tire. @ 1800RPM in 6th gear you doing 82mph that is not enough RPM for that motor. 4th gear 2500RPM you are doing 57MPH. You need to switch your rear gear to 4.88 min. or change the tire height.

If 457 torque won't scoot, I don't know what will. I guess you could always just drop in an LS9.

That 383 oughta be sweet!

Are you still running the eBay mustang mufflers? If so, are you happy with them? I'm going to be taking mine to the exhaust shop next week.. finally!

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck

Is your 383 running a 400 type externally balanced crank? Mine had an aftermarket stroker crank and was internally balanced so a regular small block flywheel fit. Why wont the 327 wheel work specifically?

Re: Extreme Powder Coating '65 C-10 Shop Truck

If I remember correctly my 383 needed a 400 balancer and flexplate.
