1 more inch

I posted on here looking for drop blocks. Several members came up with the idea making my own. One even posted an eBay link for aluminum stock. So for $21 I got a 1x2x12” block, cut in half and drilled.
I did 1” drop springs in front and 2” drop springs in the rear. I liked it, but felt it needed 1 more inch drop in the rear. I like the drop block, it doesn’t affect my shock mount or spring travel.

Re: 1 more inch

The drop is subtle, it looks real close to level but still has a small rake to it.

The same thing happened to me when I lowered my 66. It had a bit too much rake sooo I took yhe ol acetylene torch and heated half of the bottom loop of each coil. I had two jack stands under the bumper with a bit more than 1" gap so I knew when to stop heating.

Black is a Baad look, but down here in Sun Country a black truck is a mobile bakery.

D’oh. I was afraid of that. My wife and I want to retire down there in a few years.

C'mon down, Brother. But you'll want a house with garage space for all your Black rigs, and A/C in each of them.
The first Summer is the worst for people from outside. And the first Winter was also for me, as I came here from California. Winter was a lot harsher here 53 years ago. I remember big snows storms in February. I was on the Mt Lemmon ski patrol in the '80s. Now the very idea is a joke.

Re: 1 more inch

Just curious. Do not see a pin or hole in the block. Is the centering, locating pin not present on trailing arms as it is on leaf trucks? Did you just decide it was not needed and delete it?

We have friends in Apache Junction we’ve been down to visit several times in the winter. It’s beautiful down there, love the mountains. Totally different than Iowa.
