We had that happen last year at our local fair. A guy brought out a brand new GMC, and had the exact same thing happen to him.

Re: '07 GMC Duramax + Tractor/4x4 pulling =

Wow that sucks, but it is going to suck a whole lot more if anyone from the dealership was at the pulls that night, I can see a voided warranty if that was the case, not just for this but for anything in the future that may go wrong

Personally, I hope GM makes him pay to fix it.

He's probably on a GM truck board now saying how bad the GMT900's suck

Poor truck. It's one thing to romp on your truck, it's another to thrash it.

Re: '07 GMC Duramax + Tractor/4x4 pulling =

That is why Ford and Dodge still use solid front axles in there 3/4 and 1 ton 4x4 trucks. Still, it would have probably never broken during normal and even heavy use...I guess GM didn't design those truck to pull sleds, haha.

Re: '07 GMC Duramax + Tractor/4x4 pulling =

I've seen that happen to 2 different solid front axle trucks at one truck pull. It just bends the tie rod in a big U and the wheels point together. Funniest thing was a 65 K10 loaded with tools and their trashcans.. with a 250 6 cylinder.. Pulled the big sled full pull. After all the big new trucks had gone out and made 1/2 runs. That little 6 just wouldnt give up. You could see each cylinder fire in the way the tires spun.

I figured one of the half shafts would have twisted into a pretzel. So it's the steering components that give up ?

Re: '07 GMC Duramax + Tractor/4x4 pulling =

When pullin hard the front wheels try to go forward pushing against the tie rod. The one's i've seen just bend the tie rod in a U so that the wheels point together.

OUCH!

I know a guy that did near the same thing.
Only he hooked to an old beat f@^d bumper to bumper. Bad news, not recommended.
