73+ Tubular A arms on my 69 Suburban

Hey guys I just got my hands on a great set of Tubular A arms, The lowers are 1 1/2" tubes and the uppers are 1 1/4".

I wanted to know if these will fit on my 69 Suburban or will I have to change out the front cross member. If the front cross member has to be changed out, What else will I have to change.

The tubulaur '73-up arms will bolt right on. You may have to use the'73-up u-bolts on the lowers since they are bigger. This may require enlarging the hole in the crossmember to 9/16". The only other difference is that the ball joints will be different. Now is a good time to swap to '73-up disc brakes. Good luck.

Hey lolife99 do you know which cross shafts I need to use, the 1969 ones or 73+ crossshafts. Thanks for the information.

You'll use the 73 and newer shafts.

What he's talking about is that the lower arms are held to the crossmember by little u bolts. Some trucks used the smaller u blolts, some the larger ones.

You may need to ream the holes slightly if that's the case. No sweat, about three seconds with a drill bit and a drill will enlarge them as needed.

The upper arms are straight bolt on.

Re: 73+ Tubular A arms on my 69 Suburban

I'm not sure what brand they are, I haven't been able to find a name on them or on any of the parts that came with them. They are just stamped GM73. I bought them from a guy on craig list for $300.00 (new just dusty). I haven't installed the 55 belair dash yet, But I do have the original dash cut out. I am going to get all of the parts that I am not using together and post them. I need more space in my garage for new or custom parts for my Burb. I have boxes of new parts just waiting to be put on it, when i get the time! Just working a lot of hours right now.

the bottom ones look like DJM's, but the top ones do not. The blue paint makes me think they are shAIM arms.
