Got another Blazer

Well I'm coming back to "Blazerville".I noticed this thing under a shed bout 10 years ago. I stopped an talked to the guy, bought several parts from him asked about Blazer in shed an he was on the fence bout selling it. I filed it in back my brain for a future door knock. Fast forward to last Sat morning I went back,he said yes now it's mine. I'm gonna get it running, weld in new panels as needed, leave it 4x4 and have a blast.

Nobby, that interior is bad a$$, just make sure you keep the the highlander plaid and I'll give you a pass on the Porterbuilt treatment!

Re: Got another Blazer

Does it have the highlander package or just the seats. Should have all the cst stuff as well if it is. Looks pretty solid to start with. Good score. Persistence pays off.

Re: Got another Blazer

Looks like you have a combination package. There were 3 besides the highlander that combined all three a b c packages. I'm still learning the codes but I believe the package was a 604 order code next to the custom deluxe.

Re: Got another Blazer

Found this from sstim member.

The Highlander Plaid trim option and the Highlander package trucks are not uncommon. It was offered on Fleetside pickups, Blazers and Suburbans. In fact I've seen many that have been modified and the SPID is really the only tie to originality left.
It was however a one year only optional upgrade of the Custom Deluxe trim. GM has no known breakouts of unit production by trim level for the trucks at that time. So it is impossible to say a truck is x of xxx built.

Probably the easiset thing to do is read through my blurb that I have generated and refined. If you still have questions fire away.

Highlander Plaid trim was a trim only option based on Z62 Custom Deluxe or Z84 CST (Blazer only) optioned vehicles.

Highlander Promo Package trucks were also offered that bundled options with the Higlander Plaid trim. These were sales packages A,B and C with increasing levels of content.

Thus a promo package truck was a Highlander but a Highlander was NOT ALWAYS a promo package equipped truck.

Highlander Plaid trim codes
All include black dash pad, steering column (with or without tilt) and carpet. In addition the door panels, visors, console (Blazer only) and seat belts were always parchment (white). Seat vinyl was also parchment and the insert color is determined by the specific code. So the only variable color keyed component was the insert color of the seatcovers.

Re: Got another Blazer

A lot better pic on the second spid. Definitely a highlander z84 package with combination trim package. Original 677 blue plaid seat covers. The dashpad should be black as well as the steering column. Door panels should be white with white armrests. Usually had wood grain trim but did not have to depending on what package they had. Looks like you have a good almost original highlander. Are you going to restore it or just freshen it up and enjoy driving it?

Re: Got another Blazer

More correctly it is a Z84 Cheyenne CST with the 677 Blue Higlander plaid trim option and not a promo package. Trim combination means exactly that the black and whites combined with the plaid trim specific to Highlanders.

This is distinct and seperate from the promo packages that included the Highlander trim. If a vehicle is a promo package truck it will be an "A", "B" or "C" (YG6, 7 or 8). The promo packages were successive and inclusive. "B" included "A" and C included both "B" and "A".

Re: Got another Blazer

Thanks guys, Great job on the spid breakdown. It does have white door panels with white armrest an wood grain. I tell myself everyday "Do not frame off build an have 30 grand an 2 years in this thing!" so I'll fix what's broke ,take the 3'' pipe nipple body lift off. Next remove the 12'' blocks from springs get out welding machine an make some sparks. Fix all rust, original interior, new bumpers, stock grille etc. Well that's the plan anyway.
