Burb lowering questions

Got a 70 burb. installing Old-school Chisholm front tubular upper and lower control arms. The Chisholm lower control arms have a lowered spring pocket that lowers it about 2.5 inches. And unknown drop springs that will lower it an additional 1.5 to 2 inch. Was thinking of getting 2 inch drop spindles. Is this too much drop with a stock crossmember??

Also how much drop in the rear can I achieve before I will need C noches? I have read anywhere from 5 to 6 inches max. Id like to do airbags but may start with springs and concentrate on my LS swap I have planned for the spring.

Is it better to use stock springs and lowering blocks or just springs in the rear?? Any input would be appreciated.

Skip the Chisholm a-arms and just add drop spindles.
Combining the two puts the a-arm spring pocket too close to the ground.
Drop pocket a-arms are old technology.
Use drop spindles and drop springs with quality shocks up front.

I had 6" ECE drop springs on the rear of my old '69 suburban.
It needed a bolt-in c-notch in my opinion.
With just a driver and passenger it was ok.
But hauling anything or having passengers in the back seat,... it would bottom out on hard bumps in the road.

You will also need rear shock relocators and an adjustable track bar to re-center the rearend.
I prefer to use the correct spring to get my max drop,... and then add blocks if I want to go lower.
(1.5" blocks for 15"-16" wheels and 2" blocks for 17"+ diameter wheels)

Thanks I got the control for a good deal. I kind of wanted to use them because of how nice they looked. They basically look brand new with brand new ball joints already installed. Mabye I should just use Chisholm upper control arms and sell the lower ones.

So in my understanding if I use stock location spindles with these it should be ok? I havnt looked to see what the maximum drop front springs I could buy are.

How about using the Chisholm upper and lower control arms and use stock location spindles and the springs I have. I also have thought of using the Chisholm arms and a cheap bag setup because the pocket on the lower control arm can easily accept a Bag.

If I had those a-arms,... I would sell them and use the money to buy drop spindles and upgrade the balljoints and steering components.
Or you could use just the uppers.
BUT the lowers scare me with scrubline issues of that lower pring pocket hanging so close to the ground,... EVEN with stock height spindles.

Here's a picture of a DJM a-arm,... which is about the same as what you have.
(I think DJM actually stole their design from the early Chisholms arms)
When your tire goes flat,... the pocket will actually hit the ground.
And that doesn't address pot holes and other road debris.

I bought a drop kit from ECE and it worked great. I was not trying to lay it on the ground, just drop it to where I could still drive it without airbags or a C Notch.
It looks great, rides really nice, and the components work together.
Dropped spindles in the front, and lower springs. Lower springs in the back, plus the relocated bar and the shock relocator mounts.
Oh, all new shocks all the way around.
