The red is how it currently fits. I will do as Bobby instructed and open up the bolt hole and it should allow the bracket to slide down and avoid the axel housing on top.

That is correct. It may be wrong on the 1/2" drill bit but you should see that it needs to be opened up a little. I've a few trucks that didn't need it, but most of them do. Same on leaf spring plate, most of them have to ground to clear the bolt head.

Thanks man. I am going to get it aligned today and the fix the rear shocks next week and put on the sway bar and sport bumper. I didn't leave the shop until 2am (I only played helper really, I am good at taking stuff apart, LOL)and didn't take any pics but I am in love with the stance. I have the burb wheels on there for now but will get the new wheels on there shortly. What do you normally do about the front and rear bump stops.

I am bottoming out on the front fenders like crazy. I stole these wheels from my 71 that is supposed to also have a 4.5 front drop and the never bottomed out on the burb. I will purchase shorter tires for the wheels that go with this truck but that probably isn't going to solve the problem.

Those shock extenders aren't on correct - did you add the side bolts and expect them to rotate up so that back bolt will fit? I don't think it will work that way.

Having said that - I mentioned that I made my own. I found the factory brackets dimensionally inconsistent, so a generic "fits all" might be interpretive....

On my 74, I used WC shock extenders. Mine were flush w/the OE rear-end brackets like the ones in this pic....

I also used a solid bolt where this pic utilizes two individual bolts. I slid the bolt in toward the spring-pack & installed a nut there (RED).

I also added a bolt to keep it from being able to pivot (WHITE).

Are these brackets necessary if I use Belltech drop shocks?

I say YES.
They are for keeping the shocks in a "more vertical" position,... than anything else.
Without them the shocks lay to "flat".

What other brands are recommended for the shock relocation brackets? I've only seen Western Chassis.
